[2 tight slaps and 1 swift kick up the ass...]

...is what some people in NUS need.

Ever since going to NUS, I noticed that people in Uni like to complain. A lot. On the forums, they complain about all sorts of crap. They behave like spolit brats who think that everybody else owes them something. And don't get me started on the foreigners....I've seen a foreigner post some rather lousy complaints once, and if I get the chance to see him/her face to face, I'd pack him/her in a box and sell him/her back to whatever banana-producing country he/she came from.

Take, for example, this module I'm taking. The lectures run from 12pm to 2pm, and the lecturer posted a message on the course website, saying that since "some of us" need to take a bus to our next class, he would try to end the class by 1:45pm. Ok, that's nice. But to be honest, he doesn't have to do that. The allocated time to him was 2 hours, and if some students while planning their timetables feel that they are able to fly from one end of NUS to another in 60 seconds, then that's their own problem. I mean, come on, if you're planning your timetable and realised that you need to catch a bus to your next class, you really shouldn't plan the 2 classes one after another, would you? Don't take away 15 mins of everyone's lecture time every week just because you don't understand the concept of time.

The next one, is the one that got me really. For the same module, the lecturer posted a message that he'd received many requests for him to type out the tutorial questions every week and post them online. Just so we're clear, most of the questions are rather long and it's quite a lot of work to type them out, especially when they are from the course textbook. The reason students requested for him to do this? Because they're using an older edition of the book, and the questions are different.

What the fuck?

It's stated clearly which book we'd be using, and which edition. If you wanted to save a few bucks and bought the textbook from a senior who used an older edition, fine. Then you borrow the new one and photocopy the questions. Simple as that. It's not the lecturer's responsibility to make sure you have access to the questions when you obviously have the "wrong" book.

I don't want to make a sweeping statement or anything, but I have a feeling that most of the people behind these "requests" are JC students. I have nothing against JC students, in fact have a number of them as my good friends. But I feel they haven't been exposed enough to the real world, and are very much sheltered individuals. They should wake up, and realise that in this world, nobody owes you shit.

[More than meets the eye....]

I made a friend in my first Econs lecture, and the only thing I have in common with him is the Econs lecture. He's from another Department, taking Econs as a Breadth or something.

Anyway, all this time, I had this impression that he's a very slack person. Always wearing shorts and slippers. I have nothing against that, just that he gave me the impression that he's a very laid-back person. He's a nice guy, and I get along fine with him.

Just found out today that he used to be an officer in the Commandos.

Whoa......

[Invasion...]

Went for a lecture today. Usually I don't go on Monday, there are 2 lecture slots for this module and I usually go on Wednesday. Went today because this week, exam format and hopefully hints would be discussed. Got some useful tips when answering the questions, but didn't learn anything that could pinpoint any one area to study.

In the lecture, I saw this Malay girl in front of me, she's wearing a headscarf, and there was a red ant on her head. Yes! Red ant! It wasn't running around or anything, basically just chilling on her head. I was comtemplating to tell her or not....And before I could make up my mind, the lecture ended and out she went. Oh well....

While waiting for my bus, my friend joined me as his lecture ended around the same time. Within 10 seconds, he spotted a red ant on my shoulder and flicked it away for me. What the hell...Are we being invaded by ants just like Taiwan was?

[*help* *help*]

I went to school today for a make-up lecture, since yesterday was Good Friday. I got on the bus, and sat on an aisle seat. A little into the journey, the guy inside alighted, and I moved in. Then this big fat guy came and sat on the aisle seat, where I was originally.

That's all fine and dandy. Well, not really......He was really fat, and he was crushing me! Next came the piledriver up my nose when I realised that he smells like salted fish. I shifted more to the window, and he took it as a signal to move inwards more! Buddy...I'm trying to get away from you, not give you more room to park your jelly-filled stomach. So there I was, caught between a rock and a hard place, with the rock smelling salty to boot. I was so crushed that I couldn't even take out my phone to snap a picture of this guy.

I thought this was probably the worst it could get. I was wrong.

5 minutes later, he started falling asleep. Oh great....As if he wasn't already crushing me to a bloody pulp before just by sitting next to me, he's going to sleep and put his whole body weight on me! Yes, that was what happened. His hand was holding onto the seat in front of him, and I saw with horror as it(yes, "it"') fell with a thud on his tree-trunk-like thigh, and then he started shifting his body weight onto me. Just as I thought this was it, goodbye cruel world, he woke up and gave me a chance to breathe. And then the cycle continued. Crushed....Breathe....Crushed....Breathe....

For a moment I thought I was about to see something real funny when he started leaning towards the aisle instead. There was a lady standing there, talking on her mobile phone. His head must be inches away from her breast. He woke up at the last minute or his head would have been on the breast. I admire the lady. If I were her, I would have pushed his head away.

Anyhow, you always hear about people laughing so hard that they fell off their chair? Well, this guy slept so hard he almost fell off his seat when the bus took a turn. Too bad he caught himself in time. Would have been interesting to see if he bounces up.

Okay, enough about the pile of lard. The bus turned into this junction, just before reaching my secondary school when the driver slammed on the brakes. Hard. Of all the bus rides I've ever taken, I've never experienced a bigger "G-force" than this. A woman in her 40s I think actually fell down because she didn't get a good enough grip. It seemed rather serious, as she kept cradling her arm afterwards and even the driver stopped and went to see how she was doing.

In case you're curious, lard-boy woke up during this episode, but promptly went back to sleep. He needs to conserve his lard.

Finally I reached my stop, and I had to poke him with my finger really hard to wake him up to let me out. Phew.....

On a sad note, one of my black neon tetras died. I found it on my room's floor. Must have jumped out. People commit suicide by jumping into the water. Fishes do it the other way round.

[Saviour...]

Yesterday was a public holiday, so there's a make-up lecture today. Why else would I be up so early in the morning?

Been having a tough time downloading Newlyweds. Few people on eDonkey has it. Yesterday, I found a site that offers the latest episode for download, and get this, in MPEG format. Personally, if I ran the site I'd upload the episodes in DIVX and save some bandwidth, but hey, I'm just glad I now have a place to get the episodes from, and at a terrific speed too.

Boy, Jessica is so hot....

[Ring ring...]

Finally had a good night's sleep last night. Had trouble falling asleep for 3 nights before last, and on Wednesday, I was so tired that I fell asleep for 90 minutes during a 2 hour lecture. So yeah, I missed most parts of it. What the hell...It's all theory, I'll just read the textbook.

I've been wanting to change a phone for a while, since the speaker on my phone was really soft. It was almost impossible to have a conversation on the bus, with the sound of the speaker drowned out by the bus. My contract ended recently, and I figured I'd change the name of the lines to myself and to my sister. As it turns out, it would cost $84 for the whole episode, which was freaking ridiculous to me. In this day and age of IT, it's so easy to change the name of an account, why should I pay so much just to get it changed?

So I called the customer service hotline yesterday to explain my situation. The guy whom I spoke to was nice enough to give both me and my sister 6 months worth of caller-id for free. That's a $60 value, and seeing how we already subscribed to caller-id, I figured it was a fair trade-off. So I went to change the names of the account today, and bought my new phone later.

Saw 2 friends from poly at the phone shop, chatted with one of them for a while. It was nice to catch up.

Now....Off to fiddle around more with my phone.

[And the beat goes on....]

Econs tutorial ended early today. As usual. Haven't been sleeping well for the past 2 nights, feeling damn sleepy now. I'm sure to fall asleep later in my 4pm lecture later.

Had the weirdest dream last night. I dreamt that I was at home in my room, with a few of my friends. Can't remember who they were. Suddenly, 2 ang-mohs climbed into my room via my window. Which is impossible because my window doesn't face a corridor.

Anyway, they said something about being on the run or something, and asked if it was possible for us to give them $500. We said we were students and didn't have that kind of money. I went out of my room. One of my friends followed, and we discussed about taking them down and calling the police. They must have heard us, cause they ran to the bathroom and tried to climb out the window. Which is also impossible because if someone really did that, they better know how to fly or they would fall 10 stories down.

I ran after them, the first guy was already out. I grabbed the ankles of the second guy and pulled him down. He fell face first and hit the toilet bowl. As his face hit the toilet bowl, I saw his teeth and blood flying out.

That's when I woke up.

Rated NC-16.

[LiveStrong]

Bought 2 LiveStrong wristbands online from a guy on eBay, and they arrived today. A little tight for me, but damn loose on my sister.

On the way to school today, I saw this girl, she couldn't be older than 8. She's on this bike that'd obviously too big for her. She couldn't even sit on the seat as doing so will prevent her legs from reaching the pedals. But she was still cycling like a pro. I think she can cycle better than I could.

Later on, after Toh Tuck and before Clementi Fire Station, there's this little wooded area. I saw a monitor lizard on the pavement. The lizard was roughly 1.5m long I think. It was on the pavement, fore-legs supporting itself up, as if it was surveying it's kingdom. Not something you see everyday in modern day Singapore.

[Recent developments....]

The stupid ulcer in my mouth is still there, no signs of recovery yet. I've been putting this dental paste on it, but it seems to me that it doesn't really do anything. All it does is shield the ulcer from other things in your mouth, and then lets it heal naturally. Due to the position of the ulcer, I couldn't close my jaw fully. So last night, after I applied the paste and was drifting off to sleep, my jaw started closing and I bit my own tongue. This happened several times till I started wondering what happened to my jaw....When did it get mis-aligned?

Had a presentation in class today. Didn't do very well. Took a risk, used an example from a paper written by my tutor. Backfired, as my perception was kinda different from her's. But this was a small problem, the big problem was towards the end...Hard to explain. Thank God the presentation takes up just 5% of the total grade.

My corydoras spawned again today. Managed to find 9 eggs. I put them into this little container meant for holding tubifex worms and clipped it to the inside of my tank. The last time they spawned, I took the eggs out and they got developed fungus and didn't hatch. Hope this time they'd hatch.

[Pain...Just a 4 lettered word. Not!]

Bit the inside of my lower lip a few days back. Most of time when this happens, I heal pretty quick, in 2 days at most, the wound would be gone. I've never gotten an ulcer from a bite, unlike some people I know.

This time it's different. The wound morphed into an ulcer. I seldom have ulcers, which is good cause I hate them. Causes you pain every time you talk, drink and eat.

[Oh my god.....]

I haven't had time to go jogging for about 2 months. Okay, that's a lie. Just too lazy to get off my butt. Anyway, I went yesterday, did my usual route. Managed to achieve my previous timing, so I didn't de-prove too much.

But this morning when I woke up, my legs and lower back hurt like crazy. Good god......Aragh...

[Lim na bei.....]

Got back the results of one of my mid-terms today. Got 29 out of 50....Super pissed because I honestly thought I did better than that. I guess it's ok, given that the average was 28. Still pretty pissed though since this was Networking, which is supposed to be my strong area.

I invented some new ways to cuss today.....So I guess all in all, this has been a productive day.

[Recurring nightmares....]

Is it normal to have recurring nightmares? I just had one again last night. I've been having them from time to time for as long as I can remember.

My nightmare always involves something to do with my teeth. I either lose all my teeth, get them knocked out with blood all over the place, or got into some sort of accident and my teeth were all hanging out my mouth. Once I had one where they started falling off on their own while I was eating.

Last night, I dreamt that one of my tooth "exploded". When I looked into the mirror, it looked as if my tooth was in "full bloom", like a flower.

Anyone into dream interpretation, let me know what all this means.

[The gift of time.....]

Yeah, I know, I always blog in school on Tuesday. Today's a bit different from other Tuesdays. Today, my tutorial from 10-12pm ended at 10:40am. My lab from 12-2pm was cancelled. My lecture is at 4pm. I've got about 4 and a half hours to stone before lecture starts.

Good thing I found a quiet lab. I think I'll get going on my assignments. Rare for me since I don't like to do assignments in school. It's quite distracting.

[Long day's journey....]

Man U drew at Crystal Palace just 5 minutes ago. That's it....The title this year belongs to Chelsea. If Man U won the match, they would still have an outside chance of winning the title. But now, the title looks further and further away......

Had 2 mid-terms today. Or rather, yesterday. Economics was a little hard. And funny story, I actually got there kinda late. Everyone was already seated with the question paper and the lecturer was making some announcements. I went down, got my paper and bubble sheet, and found myself a place. I began writing my name, followed by answering the questions. After answering 2 questions, I finally tuned into the same wavelength with everyone else and heard the lecturer say, "You can start writing now." Oops....

The networking mid-term was a killer. I honestly found it very very difficult. But it seems that most others did too, so I hope if I didn't do well, I won't be the only one.

Had a project discussion after that. Didn't cover much, spent most of the time trying to get my friend's new laptop to work.

When that was over, I went down to SLS and bought a new printer. This is the 5th printer I've ever had. I'm on my 3rd CPU, but 5th printer already. Got a Canon this time round. Never buying an Epson again. This new one's pretty cool, has a lot of neat functions, like built-in auto-duplex, as well as 2 paper trays. It can also print on CDRs, but I don't think I'd make use of this function very much.

Bought the printer from Fuwell. I was actually looking for the i560, but the Canon salesgirl told me it has been phased out and replaced by iP3000. I was kinda surprised to see a Canon salesgirl pushing printer sales at a retailer in SLS, but what have you. She's quite knowledgeable about the printers, so that's a plus.

Enough of this, I'm going to bed. Tomorrow's another day.

[Time to play the game....]

After a period of really hot weather, the rain gods are finally smiling down on us. It rained like nobody's business yesterday, and from the looks of the sky right now, today's going to be a replay of yesterday.

Have 2 mid-terms on Saturday, and then 3 projects to rush. I think this is my first real "cram" period since I entered Uni. I thinking of doing the 3 year programme instead...But that would mean I have to take serveral maths modules, which I really really don't want.

[Speed....]

Lecture starting in 15 minutes time, and here I am blogging away. Why? Because the keyboards here is so damn comfortable to type on.

Supposed to meet with my Econs tutor at 2:30pm to clarify some concepts before the mid-term on Sat. He couldn't make it at the last minute, and I didn't see the email until just now. So I made a wasted trip over there. Oh well....

Ok...I think I better make a move on to get to my LT before the lecture starts. Over and out!
