[Old people are weird....Part II.]

I think I made a previous post somewhere about old people doing things that are considered weird by most young adults. What I saw yesterday takes the cake.

I was on 963, going to school. At Hillview, there's this woman....I think 60-thereabouts? Anyway, she dashed out from her seat in the bus stop to flag down the bus. About 2 seconds after doing that, she realised that it wasn't the bus she wanted to take, so she waved "no, wrong bus" to the driver.

Now I'd say that that is all fine and dandy, no harm no foul. But what she did next, I just can't understand why for the life of me.

She went back to her seat, lifted up her handbag, and used it to shield her face so that the bus driver cannot see her.

I mean, seriously, what the fuck? Words to describe that has yet to be invented.

[Digging deep...]

Woke up early today at 4am to watch Man U take on Chelsea in the Carling Cup. Disappointing result in the end when Tim Howard made a mistake and Chelsea went through to the finals. This was Man U's first semi-final loss in 11 years.

[Strange, weird, and huh...?]

As I was leaving my Econs lecture today, I cut across this carpark. A female student was trying to reverse park her mini-van. She had a P-plate, and also had a friend with her in the mini-van. From the angle and position of the van, you can tell that it's not going very well, and the two of them were laughing like lunatics inside. Girls find everything funny.

When I boarded the internal shuttle, this malay guy said "hey dude, how's it going?" to me. I have no idea who the hell he is.

The ppl in Uni either study too much or too little.

[Will this ever end?]

The workload in Uni is killing me. I spent Thursday and Friday trying to figure out just 2 lectures of my Economics module. And I spent the whole of last night for my IS module, and I'm still not done.

5 modules, endless work.

[Hell on Earth....]

Just finished watching New Year's Revolution. It's been a long time since I watched a PPV from start to finish. More often than not, I actually skip ahead, fast forwarding the mid-card matches as well as those boring female wrestlers' matches.

The main event was cool....But the blading done by Jericho and Benoit was way too obvious. Benoit got up and all of a sudden you see a patch of blood when he just got up from, and a straight line cut across his forehead. Jericho's blade job was similar to Benoit's. Typical blade job, to be honest. You see them all the time.

Now Randy Orton. He's something else. Triple H was getting ready to sling-shot him onto the chain wall of the elimination chamber, and you can see him getting out the razor from his wrist tape, unwrapping it quickly, and then hastily blading himself! In fact, when he crashed into the chain wall, his right hand was still holding on to the blade at his forehead! Okay...So he's only 24, but still. Triple H already slowed down the move a great deal, but Orton couldn't blade in time.

There's this segment of the PPV where footage of the divas playing by the pool was shown. I'm actually quite turned off by the women in WWE. Don't get me wrong, if they can wrestle, I'm all for it. Like Lita and Trish, who pulled off a decent match with Lita blowing her knee out. But if I wanted to see women with fake boobs shake their booties around and flash their tits every which way, I'd go get porn.

So as fate would have it, as the footage was shown, my father walked in. The footage lasted for about 5 mins. The rest of the PPV was all about men trying to destroy one another, and he had to walk in while they were showing the closest thing they had to porn.

Needless to say, he thought I was watching porn in the middle of the night. That was not cool....

[Whoo hooo......]

Ok, so my initial timetable allocated by the balloting system sucked. I had to stay in school till 6pm for 4 days a week. But during the update/swap process last night, I managed to arrange a pretty good timetable for myself, and now I'm in school till 6pm only on 2 days. Those 2 days cannot be helped as those are lecture classes and not tutorials.

From a really crappy timetable to a solid one in....10 minutes?

[Over the shoulder...]

Tutorial balloting is finally over. Made some tactical errors in the ranking of tutorials, and for this semester I'd have classes till 6pm on 4 days. That sucks. Swapping begins at 9pm, will try to swap around to see if I can get a better timetable.

Got a letter from Mindef today, telling me my NS unit and codewords. They also told me when my ops manning period would be. It'd be the end of this year, during school vacation, which sucks cause it means I can't get out of it. Just goes to show that you may get your pink IC back, but you can never take off your green uniform. Not for a while anyway.

[Morons....]

Lecture ended at 5:45pm...And I got to the bus stop at 6pm. Four 963's came along and I couldn't get on a single one of them. Got real pissed, and in the end I took 198 to Boon Lay and changed to 180 to get home. Wasn't a good idea....198 takes a long time to reach Boon Lay.

Anyway....While trying to board 963, there's this moron who's trying to board even when it's obvious no one's gonna be able to get on anymore. But he wouldn't give up....He got on the first step of the front door and stood in the middle of the door. Yes....There's a handle bar in the middle. But this moron don't seem to treasure his nuts, so he carried on "riding" the handle bar. The door took 4 tries before it could completely close, as his stupid butt was in the way. This guy either alredy have children or doesn't want any. Come to think of it...It may be better for him not to reproduce. He and the guy in my earlier post who did not wash his hands are probably from the same "factory".

[Disgusting person...]

In school now, waiting for lecture to begin. I went to the toilet just now, and someone was taking a dump in one of the cubicles. This disgusting person....Upon flushing the toilet and exiting the cubicle, went straight out of the toilet. He did not wash his hands.

I don't know why I'm blogging this. Guess I must be damn bored....

Oh...Went to SLS before coming to school. Bought a Kingston thumbdrive for $73. The listed capacity is 512MB, but I've got only 488MB to work with. Bought my first-ever bus stamp too. Actually, it's an electronic bus stamp as we're all using EZ-link cards now. I never bought a single one before in secondary school or Poly.

[Knock knock...]

Went to school today for just 1 hour of lecture. Hell, it's not even a real lecture. I "attended" the lecture online yesterday. Went for a "class review"....What the hell is that? We're supposed to ask questions and clear up any doubts we may have, isn't that what the tutorials are for?

Lots of people in this module has some beef with regards to how the project is going to be conducted. Understandable, since the project takes up a huge percentage of our final grade. It is refreshing, to be honest....Back in Poly, if there are some unfair expectations of us, few people would speak up. Here in Uni, *everyone* speaks up in under such circumstances. Ok, maybe not *everyone*, but there's no lack of feedback.

Debated with the lecturer over 15 mins on why we should not be doing the project in groups of 20 people (basically the whole tutorial group), but she simply did not see our point. Or did not want to see our point. I don't know. After 5 minutes I knew it was a hopeless case to argue, seeing how stubborn she was.

You'd think that it's pretty easy to tell who's right and who's wrong when hundreds of people object to one person's idea. But no......That one person's still sticking to her guns. Typical, I guess. She's kinda old. Old people are stubborn.

They need to be replaced.

[Dust bunnies...]

Couldn't fall asleep last night. Not sure why, wasn't excited or anxious about anything in particular. In the middle of the night I woke up a few times, and somehow managed to catch a cold. I think it's because of my sheets. This set of sheets seem to "trap dust". Don't know how else to describe it. Anyway, I'm very sensitive to dust. After I changed my bedsheets, I had a cold for 2 days. Think it's about time I condemned this set of bedsheets...

Platoon gathering tonight at a bar or something. Don't think I'd attend, not with a running nose and Liverpool vs Man United on TV at the same time. Also, I need to catch up on my school work. Going drinking really wouldn't help with that I think.

[7 days and 7 nights of thunder....]

First week of Uni is over. Compared to Poly, workload is much heavier. Pace of learning is also much faster. It's only the first week and I already have trouble keeping up in some of the modules.

Went out for dinner with some friends tonight. Had a lot of fun. When I got home, got a message on my ICQ telling me there's a secondary school gathering tonight as well. Oh well....Too bad.

[Breather...]

No school for me today. For the first 2 weeks anyway. I don't have any lectures on Thursday, and since there are no tutorials for the first 2 weeks, I don't have to go to school.

So far, things are more or less what I expected. No real surprises so far. The format of lectures and school work is similar to poly. The sense of humour of the people there however, are quite misplaced. For example:

Lecturer: Does everybody understand?
Students in Uni: *Nods furiously, much like a primary school kid.*
Students in Poly: *Total silence. Can hear pin drop. Understand or not also don't want to respond.*

Lecturer: *Insert somewhat lame joke here.*
Students in Uni: *Roars in laughter.*
Students in Poly: Na bei....This guy tao-nao pai ah?

Okay....I can't think of anything else right now. But another thing I've observed, is that while in poly, most students arrive late for lectures, in uni everyone arrives early. Yes, early!

Kinda like the twilight zone....

[In the beginning...]

First day of school today. As lost as can be. I had to go to 2 different places to get my textbooks, and almost couldn't find my lecture theatre. Going to and coming home from school was a pain too. The bus I take takes forever to arrive. And at rush hour, it's always filled to the brim.

I hope it gets better soon. Real soon.

[Sweet dreams are made of this...]

Had a dream last night. Ok, not really, more like a nightmare.

In my dream, I was in school. But for some reason, there were only 2 people in the class I was in. Me, and this guy from my poly days. He was damn happy about finding this box of Clorets in his locker (which was continued from my previous dream).

Anyway to cut the long dream short, more people came in, then the tutor started giving out the tutorial questions. I don't know what module it was, but there were a lot of chinese "fill-in-the-blanks" in the tutorial questions. It was about then when I woke up.

This reminds me of another recurring nightmare I had when I was in poly and NS. That dream was about me oversleeping and being late for my higher chinese exam.

Seems like all my nightmares are about the chinese language. I wonder why.

[Old friends, new lives...]

Went out with an old friend this evening. We were very close back in secondary school, but did not keep in constant contact after that. Went to SLS with him to change his defective motherboard, and had a nice long chat with him after that at MOS Burger.

It's nice to catch up.

[Luck of the draw...]

Round 1A of the module bidding closed today at 5pm. The results was supposed to be ready by 9pm. I received the email only at 10:48pm telling me that I was successful in all my bids.

Phew....Glad I got all my modules in the first round. Was kinda stressed towards the end when 2 of my modules suddenly filled up and closed bidding was taking place. Took a gamble, and looks like it paid off.

Next to come...Tutorial bidding.

One down, one to go.

[First post of 2005....]

Happy New Year!

The Community Centre near my house is having a countdown party, and the MC was screaming "whoo hoo!" like a lunatic after the clock struck midnight. I can't really describe it for you, but believe me, he really sounded like a lunatic.

Not a good omen for the year.....

Ok...New Year's resolutions. I have only 2 this year. First one....Get in shape, and then stay in shape. Basically, to continue with my exercise regime even after school starts. Second one, to do well in school.

That's all. Not too much to ask for, is it?
