[Breaking point....]

Today's paper was a bitch. Both tricky and hard. To top it off, I took it with a splitting headache, which started the moment I got off the bus at the exam hall.

On my way back, two things happened that really pissed me off. The first was this kid....He was seated on those face-each-other seats, on the side that looked in front. He was tired, and getting restless. At one point, he actually squatted in the aisle, and put his head on the seat. This basically blocks about 60% of the aisle, making it quite hard to anyone to board the bus. Okay, so he's just a kid, no big deal. What really pissed me off was the fact that his mother was there, watching the whole thing and didn't even do anything about it. One of the people who boarded the bus had to navigate pass the boy in a very tricky move to get to the back of the bus.

Second incident involved me. I was in a pretty bad mood by now, since my headache haven't stopped and I was really craving for painkillers. I was seated on an aisle seat, and the old man inside needed to get off the bus. I stood up, out of my seat to allow him to alight. This old man actually stomped on my foot on his way out. I was wearing sandals, so it kinda hurt. The best part was, he took his foot off mine, and then stomped on my foot again. I actually swore at him, but he didn't seem to hear me. Anyway I wasn't sure how loud I swore, since I was listening to MP3.

Seriously, what the fuck? When you step on someone's foot, you turn around and say sorry. You don't pretend nothing's happened and then step on his foot again. And don't try to convince me that maybe he didn't know. How could you not know when you stepped on someone's foot? It took every fibre of my being to resist the temptation of pushing him off my foot.

These people should be shot.

[World-class my ass....]

It's often been said that Singapore's got a world-class transport system. Obviously the person who coined that phrase never tried taking a bus during peak hours.

My exam today ended at 7pm++. Was kinda pissed after the paper because it was really hard. My plan was to take 96 from inside NUS to Clementi, and then change to 184. I waited for over 15 minutes for 96, and when it came, it was so packed that the driver didn't bother opening the front door. So I got on A2 instead, and made my way to my usual bus-stop. Since I was at my usual stop, I figured I would wait and see if I could get on 963. Boy, was that a mistake. It took 20 minutes for the stupid bus to arrive (during which, at least 2 of every other bus service at that stop arrived), and it was so packed that the driver didn't stop. I was getting really pissed by this point, seeing how I have another paper tomorrow and really need to get home to continue my revision.

After 963 passed, I got on the next bus that came along and went to Clementi to change to 184. 184 usually arrives pretty quick, except today, it took another 20 minutes. Seriously, when you're in a rush to get somewhere, the bus never comes. It's almost 9pm when I reached home. It took me almost 2 hours to get home. Contrast this with the time it took for me to reach school today -- 25 minutes.

This is seriously fucked up. The bus companies know that the demand for buses would be high during peak hours, but they won't reduce the frequency of the buses. Whoever's in charge of planning the frequencies is going to hell.

[I need to get my own place....]

Tomorrow's my first exam since entering NUS. I've yet to take my first paper, already I can't wait for the exams to be over. After the reading week, I'm already sick and tired of revising.

I live practically next to the Community Centre, and I hate it. Every now and then, they have some concert, singing competition or some other nonsense that generates nothing but noise. Take for now, I think there's some senior citizen singing competition. The "singing" is god-damn awful. I wouldn't even classify it under singing. It's just noise.

How I wish I can get my own place. Somewhere that's out of the way, and quiet. So no one can disturb me. I need my peace and quiet.

[NUS students....]

...are really fucked-up.

Whenever they encounter anything that doesn't go their way, they bitch about it. When they're done bitching about it, they bitch about it somemore. And when they're done, they bring it up to a higher authority and bitch about it somemore.

First of all, there was the incident where one student complained to the Dean when the lecturers of one module decided to scale the final exams to replace the mid-terms of those who did better in their finals. The rationale was the encourage those who didn't do so well in the mid-terms. To me, this is a win-win situation. To the selfish bastard to complained, this means he would loose some ground. And the Dean actually took the side of the student, while not surprising, was quite a disappointment.

Now, in another module, the lecturer said that there would be a bonus question in our exam. The purpose of the question was supposed to be an incentive for the students who attended the lectures (very few students do for this module). She gave an example of the question, such as where is the location of the clock in the lecture room, etc. Due to this, some students (whom I assume did not attend lectures) were asking in the online forums where are the clocks located. One student replied saying that if such a question really came out for the bonus question, he/she/it would lodge a complain with the Dean, on grounds that such a question does not test any part of the mental capacity. Eh hello....It's a BONUS question. Which part of those 2 words do you not understand?

There seems to be a "complain culture" in NUS, which I find really disturbing. This just shows how spolit these brats are. If they don't like it here in NUS, they can jolly-well leave. And take their complain culture with them.

This reminds me of one of my colleagues when I was working. He also acted as if the whole world owes him something. He was from NUS, and also from my course.

PS: To be fair, I'm not talking about *ALL* the students. Just the percentage who engage in the behaviour described above.

[What a load of monkey crap....]

Was flipping through the channels just now, and there's a re-run of the NKF show. When I tuned in, there was this segment where all the celebrities taking part took out their handphones and called the hotline to donate.

It may not sound like much, but if you saw it, I think you'll agree that this has got to be the "wayang" of the year.

On a different subject, if you've ever used P2P software before, I urge you to go to piratebay.org and check out the Legal Threats section. *salute*

[Guess who's back...]

Great game last night on TV. Manchester United beat Newcastle 4-1 to advance to the finals of the FA Cup to meet Arsenal.

Haven't seen Man U play like that for a long time, and van Nistelrooy finally got his scoring boots back, scoring 2 of the 4 goals.

Why couldn't they be playing like this throughout.....?

[Rats...]

Went running just now. Haven't been running regularly for about 2 months, and the de-provement is quite alarming. Guess I better get back into it if I want to take my IPPT during the holidays.

Saw 2 rats along the way. Quite unusual....Most rats don't come out in the day. One of them totally didn't care that I was there, it just looked at me and went about it's business. The other one I met later on ran away as soon as it heard me coming. Never thought I would see rats again after leaving my unit's old camp.

[Word life....]

Just saw WrestleMania 21. Average PPV, didn't really live up to the hype. Only 2 matches were of any standard in my opinion, the Money In The Bank ladder match and the match between Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle.

Long PPV...About 4 hours. I started watching at 3pm....Feeling kinda sleepy now...

[Nightstalkers...]

Just saw Blade: Trinity. Yeah, I know, kinda late. I wonder why.... *wink*

Anyhow, this is the 3rd Blade movie, and Blade doesn't get old. It just gets better. Ryan Reynolds....I'm not used to seeing him as an action hero. I'll always have the mental picture of him being Berg on 2 Guys & A Girl. Jessica Biel was *hot*. I don't know why, there's something about a bad-ass chick that really gets the blood flowing. Maybe that's the reason why I like Buffy.

Today was supposed to be the start of my studying for my exams. In total, I read a grand total of 2 pages. Yay me.

Sarah Michelle Gellar turns 28 today. Did you know she's a natural brunette? She dyed her hair blonde for Buffy. That's like....Dyed hair for 7 years? That can't be good.....

[The end is near....]

Reading week starts tomorrow, but I don't have to go to school from today onwards. If nothing changes, the next time I go to school would be for exams.

Received a letter from MINDEF telling me to report for mob briefing on June 10th. That sucks....I haven't ORDed for one year even and I need to put my uniform back on. The system is pretty screwed up in the sense that even when you get your pink IC back, you can never be truly free of the SAF. Unless you downgrade.

[Welcome to my life...]

Woke up today at 10am, and did not feel good. Sore throat was back, with running nose and a mild fever.

I struggled to finish whatever portions of CS2250 which I haven't finished the previous night. Not much of whatever I was reading went into my head, but thankfully the test later on is an open-book test, so it's not that bad.

After lunch, took a nap. When my alarm clock rang, I didn't feel like getting up. In the end, had to half-drag half-crawl my way to school. Actually by this time, I wasn't feeling too bad, just the running nose. Sore throat's gone.

On the bus, there's this fat malay sonofabitch in an ITE uniform got on the bus. His face alone warranted a good ass-whopping, and as if that's not enough, he sat sideways on the inner window seat and put his feet on the seat next to him. I mean, seriously, that's just fucked up. At that point I was thinking, ITE student, what can you expect from them? To top it off, he started playing ringtones on his phone. Good God....As if he's overall behaviour wasn't irritating enough, he has to make himself a nuisance as well.

I got off at my stop, and went to the test venue. The test wasn't too hard, the hard part was finishing the test in time. There were 12 short-ans questions, and we had only 1 hour to do it in. That works out to be 5 minutes per question. I'm glad to say that I managed to finish it, but I didn't get to write everything I had wanted to write.

Made a new friend on my way back. He's actually my friend's friend....We were seated at the same table earlier before the test. As it turns out, he has the same name as one of my poly friends. Same surname too. Haha....What a coincidence.

On the bus back home, I stood at the round rotating thing on the bendy bus. If you know what it is, you know. If you don't, you'll never know. So I won't spend time explaining it here. Anyway, standing across me was the sweetest girl I've ever seen. She's an ITE student also, but nothing like that fat malay bodoh earlier. From her conversation with her schoolmate I heard that she's studying IT, which I had guessed since she was holding a VB book in her hands. I tried to take a picture of her, but couldn't because the stupid hand pole was in the way. Anyway I think she noticed what I was trying to do so I stopped trying.

At a later stop, another group of ITE students got up. 4 girls, and they stood inbetween me and the original ITE girl. This "Gang of 4" was loud and crude, posing a very stark contrast to the original girl. This exchange of words took place when one of the girls alighted:

Girl A: Bye! Don't fall in the drain! No one will help you up!
Girl B: CB lah!
Girl A: CB I got!

I've never heard anything like this, out of the mouth of a member of the female species. Phew....

Anyway, for those of you who are curious, the first girl alighted in Bukit Batok. From the conversation of her schoolmates later on, it seems that she's meeting a guy. Too bad.

[1 down, 1 to go....]

The software engineering presentation today went well. We tried to cover all bases, and spent quite some time coming up with questions we might be asked. In the end, she didn't ask us that many questions, but she was pretty impressed with our work. As it turns out, she actually taught in Ngee Ann before she came to NUS.

I found out today during lunch that one of our group members, basically the guy who came up with almost everything, got 2 As and 1 B during poly. The rest were all ADs. *woot*

Anyhow, this project has come to a close, thankfully. This is the first project I've ever done whereby I did the least. That's what happens when everyone else in your group took programming as their focus in poly while you took networking. If I could go back in time, I would have taken software as my focus as well.

One down....One more to go. I have an end-of-term test tomorrow, and I'm not feeling very well right now. Have a bad sore throat, and had a slight fever this morning. Good thing the test is tomorrow at 4pm, so I have time to revise tonight and tomorrow morning.

[The fire's gone...]

Man United lost 2-0 to Norwich last night. Norwich, by the way, is lying on the bottom of the table. I guess it's safe to say that the fire in Man United is gone. This has been a very disappointing season, to say the least. Good thing I didn't stay up to watch the whole match.

Better luck next season.

[Gut-check time...]

This will be a hectic couple of days for me. Let's see....I have an end-of-term test on Tuesday, which means the coverage is the same as the exam. I thought I could spend today and tomorrow cramming it. But one of my projects is due on Monday, and the guys I'm doing it with want to meet on Sunday to give it a final go-over. Plus Sunday evening I'm expected at a family gathering. This means I more or less have to finish my revision by today.

[SUCCESS!]

Whoo hoo!!!

For my networking lab tomorrow, we're supposed to come up with a UDP program in Java that allows file transfer. In other words, we have to come up with an FTP server and client application, using UDP, programmed in Java.

I was totally lost and had no idea how to proceed. Should have done this over the weekend, but the lazy ass that I am, I didn't get started until this evening. I started work at 8pm, and finally finished it about 30 mins ago. It's a simple program, but it took me forever and I have to consult my old Java books, the Java API on Sun, my old lab reports and my dear Java-siao friend. Actually I couldn't have done it without his help.

This feels good. Haven't felt this good for a long time. This was the feeling I got when I was in poly whenever I've finished a project or assignment.

Whoo hoooo!!!!

[Crazy bitch on the bus...]

A crazy woman sat next to me today on the bus on my way to school. I was seated on the inside, next to the window. She sat on the outside, next to the aisle. I was nice enough to move my bag vertically instead since it's rather big and would otherwise extend into her "air space". If I knew what kind of a crazy person she is, I wouldn't have bothered.

I was trying to get to my earphones to listen to my MP3 player, after which I got out my tutorial sheet to read. At this time, I noticed that she was very sensitive whenever I brushed against her. She would make a huge reaction to "get out of the way". I found this rather weird. Brushing up against the person next to you in the bus is pretty normal, especially if one of them is trying to get something out of his bag. And to top it all off, it wasn't even skin-to-skin contact. More like sleeve-to-sleeve, or sleeve-to-skin.

And so it continues, throughout the whole trip. This crazy bitch basically didn't want anyone to touch her. Whenever someone's walking pass her in the aisle, she'd jerk like a toy running low on batteries to try to get out of their way. When I reached for my remote to skip to another song, she'd make a special effort to make sure my sleeve did not touch her.

I really felt like giving her a punch. Who the hell does she think she is? Royalty? If you don't want anyone to brush against you, DON'T TAKE THE FUCKING BUS. Take a cab, for crying out loud. I was thinking of whether if it's possible to take a picture of her....But decided not too as it would be too obvious.

[Gene pool needs some chlorine...]

There's a pasar malam near my place, and I went to look around last night. For the international audience (if any), pasar malam is something like a night market.

As we all know, walking space in pasar malams are limited, and it's usually pretty crowded. Throughout the time I spent navigating the stalls, I ran into a total of 3 familes who thought it would be a good idea to come browse the pasar malam with their baby strollers.

Seriously, what the hell? Which part of your teeny-tiny brains thought that it would be a good idea to bring a baby stroller into a place where walking space is limited? Please tell me and I'll cut that part of the brain out for you.

On a related topic, why do people like to bring their baby strollers on the buses? It just doesn't make sense! It's so cumbersome, and if you know you're going to take a bus, leave the bloody stroller at home! I never gave up my seat to anyone who came lumbering onto the bus with a baby stroller, and never will. As far as I'm concerned, they had it coming. Who asked them to bring it with them in the first place.

[What a load of crap...]

I actually realised this a while back, but I never got around to posting about it till today.

People in SoC push a lot of brown. Most of the time when I go to the washroom, someone is locked in at least one of the cubicles, having a go. Doesn't matter what time of the day it is.

Before you think I'm some sort of sick bastard who goes around checking out who's crapping and who's not....Hey, when something happens often enough, you'd notice it too right? Not to mention the aromatherapy I get everytime I go take a leak.
