[Somebody's gonna get hurt real bad...]

I first learned about credit cards at my first workplace. Back then, I already had debit cards and was happy with them. I never considered getting credit cards until my colleague shared with me the reasons why I should. Namely, they get way better discounts and rewards, and in case of fraud, you don't have to pay the banks the "scammed" amounts.

I took some time to research all the cards then and settled on two. I don't believe in having a whole bunch of cards. Ideally, we should just have one card, so we can put all our spending on the card and maximise the reward generation.

I took the effort to, as far as possible, charge all my spending to my credit cards. This included topping up my EZ-link cards with them. When I started doing this, the only good way to do this was to sign-up for their auto top-up facility. This service charges an additional 25-cents per top-up, so it's a no-brainer to select the highest top-up amount ($50). I linked my EZ-link to my UOB ONE, and had to get multiple EZ-link cards for this purpose because I didn't want the top-up to be executed after I've hit my limit for the month (this has something to do with how the UOB ONE works). I would time the auto top-ups to happen only in the earlier part of the billing cycle.

These days, machines that allow you to top-up your EZ-link cards with credit cards are appearing. I've seen and used one at Plaza Singapura. It allowed me to top-up my EZ-link card with no surcharges.

I then saw the same machine at a CC near my place. I proceeded to cancel the auto top-up facility on two of my three EZ-link cards, with a view to refunding them and transferring their value into my lone remaining card.

The cancellation of the auto top-up has already been executed. I'm all ready to get my cards refunded (can only do so one week after the auto top-up is cancelled) when I realised the machine at the CC is not exactly the same.

I tried using the machine this past weekend and at one point, was asked to insert my card into the machine. I looked high and low, but could not find the slot to insert my credit card. I even took apart the mounting bracket a little, there simply wasn't anywhere a credit card can be inserted.

I wrote an email to the CC folks. Hope they do something about it and get the machine replaced soon.

[When you gotta go...]

Recently, a lot of people were shamed on social media for relieving themselves in public. Sometimes it's an adult, sometimes it's an adult helping a child. Sometimes it's number one, sometimes it's number two.

A lot of people immediately jumped to the conclusion that the people caught doing so were from a certain country. I suppose it was due to a number of factors. Firstly, these reputation of these people didn't help. Secondly, we never had so many of them here before, until now. Putting two and two together, it's not hard to see why people jump to such conclusions.

When all these was going on, one of the things I could not understand was why were so many of them getting caught on camera all of a sudden. Are they really all from that country? If so, did they really bring over this disgusting habit with them?

Today I had the misfortune of seeing it for myself. I don't know the nationality of the people involved. But I do think such people needed to be shamed.

There were grass patches and drains nearby. Why did she have to let her child go right in the middle of the road?
