[Smells like teen spirit...]

I received a copy of AlumNUS today. A magazine that NUS sends out to their alumni.

Flipping the magazine, there was an article about some freshmen activities.

Then I noticed this girl...

*laughs*

I wonder how she felt when she saw herself in the photo. Or if she even knows about it. After all, it is a magazine for alumni.

[Lady luck....]

In the past, I've always wondered about people who gamble. Every time I pass by a place selling Toto or 4D, I would wonder why these people piss away their money every week. You can't win. From a probability standpoint, the only party that wins is Singapore Pools. As far as I was concerned, the only type of bet in which you have a realistic chance of actually winning was betting on football because it's based on an educated guess and not just blind luck or chance.

Now I know why. I know why people piss their money away every week.

You can never earn enough money. When you earn $2,500/mth, you want $3,000/mth. When you get $3,000/mth, you want $4,000/,mth, and so on. You can never earn enough to lead the kind of life you want. That's why people buy Toto or 4D. Someone has to win...Why not me?

Why not me, indeed. So today, I bought Toto for myself, for the very first time. $10 worth. I don't see myself playing every draw, simply because it's rather inconvenient to place bets. If I spend $10 on every draw, I would spend $1,040 a year on Toto. I'd probably only place bets if I actually pass by somewhere that takes bets.

Wish me luck.

[I, Robot]

Of all the names they can possibly choose...

...for their robot...

...they chose this one.

Excellent.

[What are these for?]

I'm sure you've seen some of the following exercise stations in your area. To tell the truth, I have no idea what some of them are for.

Take, for instance, this one...

First thing that came to my mind was that this looked like the "steps" they use for lion dance performances. Or something they would use in a kung-fu movie to show how the hero trained.

And then, this...

How can you incorporate the above in your exercises is beyond me. So is this...

Not the monkey-bars in the back. The sloping pole in the front. There are markings from 6 to 9 on it. What are we supposed to do with it?

Now this...

I can only imagine that this is for clowns-in-training. For them to run and balance on the log as if they are on a giant ball in the circus.

And next...

For fire-men? I don't know what's the purpose of this thing.

And finally...

What the fuck is this? I think the only purpose of this thing is for tripping people when they aren't paying attention.

Just when I thought the stations are weird enough, along came this guy.

Check out what he's wearing.

SAF boots! He's going running in army boots! I've never seen anyone do that, to be honest.

[Proof-readers needed...]

If you've read my previous posts, you'd know that I read horoscopes. Just for fun. Sometimes, they can be insanely accurate. Other times...Well...

Birthday gift for myself?

But people born under this sign celebrate birthdays in Feb/Mar!

[RSS...]

I'll admit it. When RSS first came out, I had no freakin' clue what it was. When I finally found out what it was, I was pretty disappointed. I thought it was just like "podcast", "vodcast", and even "blog". Fancy new words for the same old things. I mean, there's really nothing "new" about any of these things. They use the same technology and more or less the same delivery method. It's just a slightly-different way of getting things done.

Which was why I never bothered with it. RSS, that is. Until YQ suggested I turn mine on. So I did.

The link's on the right. You can't miss it.

[Worst ever...]

It's been a while since my last wrestling-related post. I haven't had much to say about wrestling...But I saw Unforgiven a few days back and I honestly cannot believe how bad Mark Henry is.

You would think that after so many years in the business, he would have picked up a few decent moves. But no, he's crap. I used to think that Kevin Nash was the worst and most boring wrestler ever but now I think Mark Henry deserves the distinction.

From my observations, wrestlers generally don't use the same move more than once in a match. If you do, it means you have either run out of ideas or have a limited repertoire.

Mark Henry has a grand total of three "wrestling moves". I used quotes because the three moves are really shit anyway and I don't really consider them wrestling moves.

First, the bear-hug. First, on Chavo.

Next, on Matt Hardy.

Finally, on Finlay.

The guys who came out before him worked a very decent match and really had the crowd going. When Mark Henry came in with his bear hugs, he basically killed the crowd. WWE fans have never been as loud or vocal as TNA or Indy fans, but the silence was deafening. Matt Striker tried to sell what was going on by saying that the "fans were in awe". I think the fans either fell asleep, took a toilet break or went to the concession stands.

Are you ready for Mark Henry's second "wrestling move" of the night? I don't know the name of this slam that he uses, but I believe it's a very old type of move that, as far as I know, no one else uses anymore. Not because it's old, but because it's really shit.

He picks The Miz up....

...and then basically falls down. I like The Miz, by the way. He's hilarious.

He then proceeded to execute the same move on Chavo twice. I told you, he's got no moves and has run out of ideas.

So much for Mark Henry's first two moves. His last move, is something that requires no training and anyone could do it and make it look good. Then again, no one uses this move because it's so shit.

A splash. A fucking splash.

Honestly, if he ever goes to TNA or the Indies, he would get booed out of the building. Learn some fucking moves.

I'm at page 79 out of 553 of Bret Hart's book and I must say, it's hard to put the book down. I usually read before going to bed and this book has kept me up later than I should have stayed up.

Despite how he came across on TV, Bret Hart was no saint. Then again, most pro-wrestlers had "complicated" lifestyles.

Can't wait to get back to the book.

[It's here!]

I ordered something on Amazon.ca on June 15th.

It's finally here!

Bret Hart's autobiography. He was my childhood hero. A damn shame the way his wrestling careered ended...And how wrestling both gave and took away so much from him.

I have quite a few things I want to write about, but I'm too tired tonight. Maybe tomorrow. I have a list, they are on a To-Do list on my desktop. I'll get around to them soon, I hope.

[Random pictures...]

Anyone having trouble with their HYP?

What this is about is so obvious. "Advisory" my ass.

Guess the purpose of the white tent. It's a little blurry, I took the picture as I was walking down the stairs.

It's a taxi stand. Must be Singapore's most unusual taxi stand. And if you see carefully, you can see a MacDelivery guy standing under the tent with the familiar giant back-pack. Why's he waiting for a cab?

[Do you believe?]

I received a call from an acquaintance today. In my experience, whenever I'm contacted by an acquaintance, it usually means one of things. One, they need my help. Two, they want to sell me something. For the first one, yeah right. You never bothered to put in the time and call me only because you want my help? As for the second one...

*laughs*

In any case, it seems that Mr. Acquaintance is now a financial planner. I don't think I need to go any further, with regards to what the phone call was about. I told him no, I haven't any money for his products or services. Which is the truth. I'm still paying off my study loans and actually owe my sister money because I couldn't make the first two payments. After deducting the monthly payments and money for my parents, what I'm left with is just slightly more than what I received when I was in NS.

I just read today's papers and guess what was my horoscope for today?

Creepy.
