[The year ahead...]

I think 2013 will be a huge year for me.

I'm not entirely happy at my current job. While it's not as bad as my previous job, I am on the look-out and applying for new jobs. If things go well, I should be changing my job again in 2013.

I've given it some thought, and while I have not decided, I think there is a good chance that I would go for nose and back surgeries to fix some of the problems I've been living with.

And to top it off, I will be planning my wedding. We are planning to hold it in January 2014, so 2013 will be spent planning and getting ready for it.

2013 hasn't even started, and I feel tired already.

[I thought I was alone...]

I noticed something about toddlers lately. I'm referring to those who are not yet old enough to talk, but old enough to operate an iPhone.

When one of them sees another toddler, they freeze up and become incapable of doing anything else except stare at the other toddler. They may look away for an instant, but always go back to staring at the other toddler. Sometimes, with their mouths open just a little bit.

They always seem so surprised to see another toddler.

Maybe they think they are the only one.

[Cross-border fees...]

I keep all my credit card receipts, be it physical copies or soft-copies when I purchase things online. I wait for my statement to arrive, match the items to the receipts, before discarding or deleting the receipts.

I have been doing this ever since I got credit cards. For the first time today, the amount on my receipt did not match the amount on my statement.

It's a transaction between me and Paypal, for an item I bought on eBay from a UK seller. It was just 9-cents more, but I decided to call my bank and ask them why was the amount different.

I was told that it was due to cross-border fees. This is something levied by Visa and MC when transactions in SGD are processed overseas. I suppose this is their response to Paypal converting the amount to the buyer's local currency and depriving credit card operators of the currency conversion fees.

I would have accepted the explanation, if not for another transaction I made on the same day, through Paypal for an eBay transaction, this time with a HK seller. Shouldn't the cross-border fee be applied to this transaction as well? It was not.

If anyone knows anymore information about this, leave a comment. Thanks.
