[Blind fury...]

Bad day at work today. I've got a ball of anger in my chest right now, hopefully by the time I'm done writing it all down, I'd feel better.

I turned on my computer after being away on MC for one day and there were 40+ unread emails. Great. I went through them pretty quick. Nothing major, except in instances where the new manager replied. I honestly don't know how I can work with her in the long-term. She's got her head stuck so far up her ass and she doesn't even know it. She shot herself in the foot so many times I'm surprised she can still walk and stand on those mangled feet.

After lunch, the monthly anti-virus scanning kicked in. It started at about 2pm and everything on my computer basically died. I think it's so ironic that the word "technology" is in our company's name but we can't even get something like virus scanning done correctly. Whenever the virus scanning happens, my computer gets so lagged that nothing works. I usually lose about three hours of productivity when this happens. There's nothing I could do.

I waited till 6pm and my computer was still not responsive. Outlook was dead, as was Office, IE, and everything else. I gave up and did a force-shutdown via the power button. Booting up takes roughly five minutes to complete, which is a long time considering it is a dual-core machine running WinXP.

I looked through the new emails which I received in those four wasted hours and replied the more urgent ones. When I'm done, it was already after 8pm.

My mood was pretty bad at that point. The shitty things the new manager did while I was away coupled with the stupid computer has made me insanely angry and there weren't any outlet for me to vent my anger on. Maybe that was a good thing.

I headed down to the road to hail a cab. Lots of cabs came by. 60% of them were "on call". They really weren't. What they do is, they park somewhere near my office and wait for the phone bookings from people working around my office area. That place is a ghost town after 7pm and people who work late tend to call for cabs.

As for the "green" cabs, none of them stopped for me. I wonder why. Didn't the media recently reported that cab ridership is down? You'd never know with all the "green" cabs whizzing by without stopping. At that moment, I really wished that I had my own car. I just want to get home as soon as I could, without being at the mercy of our let's-be-honest-it's-really-shit public transport system.

After 20 futile minutes, my regular bus came and I decided to take it. Reached home about an hour ago.

I feel a little better. But I'm still angry. I wonder why I put up with this shit. I once promised myself that I would never stay at a job I didn't like just because it paid well. That seems to be what I'm doing right now.

I hope tomorrow will be a better day. At least...The evening should be.

[Down but not out...yet...]

I'm on MC today. I probably caught something from a friend over the weekend. I was on MC last week too, for an epic episode of allergic rhinitis. I control my exposure to allergens very well, so I rarely get any "epic" episodes these days, unlike when I was younger and did not know what I was suffering from.

Life is...Not too bad. I wish I had more time. Haven't seen my Uni mates in a while. Another aspect of my life is going well. But things at work are...Still not ideal.

I'm no longer happy doing what I'm doing. In the past, the fire may be gone but there was still a spark. Now there's nothing. Not even a spark. The new people are not really working out. I don't know what should I do. Should I formally request for a transfer? Should I stay put and see what happens? Something is supposed to happen soon...But how soon? Or should I look for something else outside? I'm not sure if I can get the same amount of remuneration outside.

What should I do?

[Privacy issues...]

I was at Carl's Jr at Marina Square last Saturday. They had these "tell us how we did" cards on every table.

I opened up the one on the table I was at and guess what?

It's filled in. Left behind by a customer the day before.

Please don't do stuff like this. Now any creep who sits at this table has your name, address, and email address. Imagine the info I can find out about this person just via Facebook.

Speaking of Facebook, I tried. I really tried. Everytime I login with the intention of properly setting up the damn thing and being more active on it, I give up within five minutes.

I can't stand the website. With everyone uploading their pictures, trying to prove to others that they have a great life and have that many friends. I don't know why...But I just can't get my head wrapped around that concept. Okay, I realise that some of my cousins, having grown up, are really hot, and that some of the people I've lost touch with are pretty much still losers, but I still cannot be motivated enough to be active on the damn site.

Maybe I'll try again this weekend.

[Girls with whiskers...]

My sister introduced this site to me a while back. This website has nothing but pictures of women with moustaches.

Now I'm messed up. Whenever I see a girl, I would focus on the bit of skin above her upper lip. Is there a slide shade of grey? If so, then she probably has a moustache.

There was a hot girl on the bus today and I stared at her for the longest time. Other than her eyes, the only other thing I could focus on was her upper lip. I think she has a moustache.

I hate my sister. She has totally ruined girl-watching for me.

[Are you home yet?]

Have you ever done this? You went out with a group of friends. It's late when the fun ended and good-byes are exchanged. Before you went on your way, you said:

"Let me know when you reach home."

Have you done this before? I'm sure you have. I have. Now I realise how stupid this is.

When you say this to someone, what you're really saying is, "I can't be bothered enough to send you home, but all the same, let me know when you get home safely so I can sleep in peace."

What if this person never got back to you? Would you be worried? Probably. But will you do anything about it? Probably not. Maybe you're call this person. What if the no one answers? What if the phone is switched off? Will you call this person's house? Do you even have this person's home phone number? Will you risk a false alarm by calling this person's house in the middle of the night?

Either send the person home, or just go home and don't think about it. Don't tell the person to let you know when they are home. That means shit.

More often than not, I can't wait for my phone contract to end because there's always a phone I want to buy. Not this time. I finally got the 2323, which syncs with my 6500s. I'm happy. I'm contented.

And I did something I've never done before (I think). I bought a new battery for my 6500s. That's right...I've used this phone long enough that the battery needs changing. And I bought a new battery because I have no intention of changing phones anytime soon.

So I opened up the back of the phone to put in the new battery. The last time I opened up the phone was about 18 months ago, when I subscribed to multi-SIM. The amount of lint and dust in the phone was insane. And all I do is put the phone on my table in its little deck-chair and in my pocket. That's it. It's a wonder how the phone doesn't catch fire from all the link and dust when I charge the battery.

If you haven't opened the back of your phone in a while, you might want to. Just to see how dirty it is.

The trip to my office in the morning normally takes about one hour. It took two hours this morning due to some big-ass accident.

Singapore is a small country. And it's really insane that anyone would need to spend two hours travelling to work, accidents on the road notwithstanding. I think this speaks volume about the state of our public transport system. And how it's painfully obvious that our infrastructure, be it traffic, housing, etc, can no longer support the number of people in Singapore.

We need to change.
