[Julie, make me a sandwich!]

Kidding aside, the welfare committee here is the best one I've ever seen, out of my three different employers.

[Something to think about...]

The local library recently started stocking up on comics. I've been borrowing Spider-man comics and I just finished this one.

It's a collection of some of the more important story arcs in the Spider-man/Marvel universe. I don't follow the developments too closely and it is easier to read these consolidated books rather than issue by issue.

I didn't expect Spider-man comics to have such thought-provoking themes. There are two major story arcs in this book, Civil War and One More Day. Each gave me something to think about.

Civil War - What if you woke up one day and realised that the country you are living in was no longer the country you were born in? What would you do?

One More Day - Are you willing to sacrifice the most important thing in your life, going forward, for what was the most important thing in the past? What if you only had one more day before the love of your life is gone, forever?

[What a deal!]

I been thinking of getting this watch for the longest time.

I saw it a few months back at G-Factory. I really liked the design and I was looking for a new watch with a white face. I did not purchase it immediately.

I saw the same watch at another location after a few weeks for $125 and was about to make the purchase when I changed my mind at the last minute. I went back to that area yesterday and saw another shop selling it for $85.

I didn't wait anymore. I made the purchase, and when I went back to the original shop, it was still selling for $149. I managed to get the watch at more than 40% off. The feeling is pretty awesome.

[Where auntie works!]

I think they are mother-daughter.

Blue: The things here (in Orchard) very expensive. The bras at Teck Whye are cheaper.
Pink: Where in Teck Whye?
Blue: The place where auntie works.
Pink: Where is that?
Blue: The place where auntie works!
Pink: What's nearby?
Blue: The place where auntie works lor!

Look, if she doesn't know where her aunt works, repeating the same thing over and over again will not make it any clearer. When I come into power, people this like will be sterilised.

[A different perspective...]

This topic is raised in the press fairly often. And usually, the reporting is rather one-sided. The politically-correct side, of course.

I shall offer a different perspective.

Just because someone looks like an able-bodied person, does not mean he or she is so. I have a slipped disc and it hurts my back when I have to stand for a long time. The problem is worse when standing on buses with sloped floors, as my back has to adjust and basically "absorb" the difference in the angle on the floor I am standing on. Who's to say that I don't need the seat as much as a pregnant woman or an elderly person?

When I know I am in for a long bus ride and I would like to have a seat, I make the effort to travel to bus-stops ahead of my rightful stop to increase my chances of getting a seat. If I get a seat, great. If not, too bad. If I wanted a guaranteed seat, I would take a cab.

Society don't owe you anything. If you want a seat, do something about it. Take concrete steps to increase your chances. Don't expect people to give up their seats to you just because you are pregnant or you are old.

We should throw them in an UFC ring and see how long they last.

[iSheep...]

Saw this book at Kino:

No offense to the people who are using iPhones, but I don't know if I agree the book's title. I've never been a fan of Apple's product, and probably never will be.

Android FTW!

[So simple!]

I was browsing a magazine at Kino when I came across this.

It was an article about how to use everyday objects to help organise your things and generally make your life better. The above cable organiser is so simple and elegant.

There was another example about using the ring-tab of a can drink to hold two clothes-hanger together as a way of organising your wardrobe. I didn't take a picture of that. That's also seriously ingenious.

[Existing...]

Put yourself in his shoes. What do you think is going through his mind when he sees young people using the latest smart-phones? Something which, when he was young, must seem impossible. What do you think is going through his mind when he sees a toddler?

If it was me, I would be thinking about how far the world has come since I was born. How, at my age, that I would be missing out on a whole lot of other experiences. How I am at the tail-end of my time on Earth while others are only starting out.

Think about it. What would be the thoughts running through your head if you were him?
