[Are you kiddin' me?]

A screen-shot from today's ST.com:

Countries around the world set high standards for the people they allow into their countries. In Singapore, the Government left the doors wide open and allowed all sorts of foreigners into the country when the country's infrastructure cannot support the numbers.

Singapore is no different from a prostitute lying on her back with her legs wide open.

And now they want us to help integrate the foreign trash they allowed into the country. Why should we help to integrate them? Why should we spend tax-payers' money to do this? They've come to our country, and they better jolly-well adhere to our culture and norms.

I cannot understand why 60.1% of the population still voted for the ruling party. When will these people come to their senses?

[Where did the memories go?]

The rate of development in Singapore is really fast. I guess that is to be expected, considering how little land we have and how we need to make the best possible use of it.

I was at Chomp Chomp for dinner earlier tonight. When I was a kid, I spent a great deal of time staying with my maternal grandmother and we lived in a house near Chomp Chomp. I haven't been there for a while, so I wanted to take a look at the house I grew up in.

I asked my father for the address and he also told me that the house has already been torn down. I looked it up on Google Street View, and he was right. The house's gone. A new house stood where it once was. The two houses opposite remained unchanged. They even had the same gate, I remember them well.

I think I wrote about this in a previous post, but I still can't get over how so many landmarks from my past are gone. The kampong which my father's side of the family stayed at is gone. We spoke about it recently during a family gathering and some of my aunts were impressed by how much I remembered about the kampong, considering my young age. The first HDB flat we stayed at is still around. The last time I was there was when I sent a girl home after a date and she stayed two blocks away. My primary and secondary schools have been rebuilt and I don't even recognise them anymore. I don't know whether my faculty's buildings at Ngee Ann Polytechnic are still around or not. But I know the iconic Octagon where the graduation ceremonies are held is gone.

But they will forever live on in my mind.
