[Kill yourself....]

You can't get along with everyone. That's a fact. For some reason, some people won't like you. It's a chemical thing. They see your face, a switch goes off in their brain and they turn hostile. And vice versa. Whatever, it happens.

When it happens once; these things happen. When it happened again; it might be you. When it happened yet again; it's definitely you.

Do the world a favour. Kill yourself.

[Everyone wants one...]

I went to Challenger today with my sister who wanted to buy a web-cam. I saw a bunch of mobile phone pouches that made me laugh.

These are not ordinary pouches...

...they are coveted pouches. Everyone wants one. Probably made in China.

Anyway, I think Challenger should re-think the way they arrange their products. I went there about two weeks ago and bought a red X-mini capsule speaker. I wanted a black one but could find it. When I was there today, I saw a whole bunch of them located elsewhere, not under the "speakers" section. Aragh.

[Going crazy...]

I've mentioned before that my current workplace does not allow camera phones. Currently, I'm using an old Nokia 6100 during work. There are three problems with this phone. First, I have to speak very loudly in order for the other party to hear me. Second, the speaker is kinda soft. Third, it is such an old phone.

I've been on the lookout for a non-camera phone since the day I started work. Preferably, something from Nokia, because that's the only brand of phone I've ever used and I don't feel like re-learning how to use a phone all over again. Also, it should ideally be running on the S40 platform. There are too many features on the S60 platform that I don't use. All I need are the calendar/to-do list functions, as well as your basic calls and SMS.

Currently, the only non-camera Nokia phone out in the market is the E51. It's running on the S60 platform. Newer Nokia phones have this Phone Sync function whereby you can sync the information in both phones. Unfortunately, it doesn't work properly between S40 and S60 phones because the calendars are slightly different.

So E51 doesn't fit my purpose. I found out about the Nokia 7070 recently. A really poorly designed phone, but it's a clam-shell (which is still my form-factor of choice) and it's running on S40! Since it's new, most likely it would have the Phone Sync function...

Actually no, it doesn't matter. No bluetooth. Can't sync.

*tears hair out at this point*

I ordered a book on Amazon CA a month ago, and it still isn't here yet. No way would it take that long to deliver a book. The estimated delivery date is Sept 15th, three months from the day I bought the book.

I heard that it doesn't matter which delivery option you choose. All packages get processed at the same time. Only, they leave the cheaper packages in the post-office instead of delivering them, so that you would pick a more expensive option next time.

Idiots.

[Stare case...]

I took this photo at the CC near my place:

How did any of the staff there not realise and point out the obvious mistakes in the sign is beyond me.

Saw The Dark Knight today. I thought it was an okay movie. Not that fantastic. I thought the story went along too quickly. They didn't introduce some of the characters carefully and for the one character that they did, they killed him/her off at the end (trying not to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it). What a waste.

[Finally...]

Ten years ago, I never thought this would be possible. Then again, not too long ago, I didn't think that I would be working at my current workplace.

Life is really like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get or where you'd end up.

[Talking to myself...]

I haven't gotten any better. Actually no, I am a little better, but my throat still feels like shit. To make matters worse, I think I was exposed to some dust when I went out earlier because I've gotten a runny nose. I took an antihistamine, and I hope there are no adverse side-effects taking it together with the antibiotics given by my GP. This is not the best time to be ill, seeing how I have a shitload of things to do at work tomorrow and have to attend my convocation on Tuesday.

I don't know why, but I always end up sitting next to the crazies on buses. A few weeks ago, on my way home from work, I sat next to this stupid guy who probably has a huge dick (he wishes) because he couldn't close his legs and took up more than his fair share of leg-room. That became the least of my worries when I realised he was talking to himself...

Today, I met another guy on the bus and he was talking to himself as well. But not for long, because he promptly fell asleep and decided that I was his pillow and leaned into me.

It's times like this I wish I had a car. Oh well, that's not going to happen for a while. Guess I'd still have to deal with the crazies for a long time.

[Sick on my own time...]

I've been fighting a throat infection for the past four days and finally decided to go see the doctor yesterday evening after work because I starting to feel weak. The medical scheme I'm on (at work) allows me to show them a card and I don't have to pay anything upfront. 20% of the bill would be deducted from my salary the next month. I received the card a few days ago, but my name was spelt wrongly and I had it sent back. I got the updated card yesterday morning and it was kind of a bad omen, I guess? Having to use the card the very day I got it.

Well the clinic was closed yesterday so I went this morning. It was pretty cool. As long as I continue working at my current workplace, I won't need to bring money to see the doctor. I don't even need my doctor's appointment card. Haha!

But it sucked that I came down with this over the weekend. Weekends are supposed to be my time. I wasn't planning on spending it nursing an infection. I'd rather it be on a weekday and I could have a day off work. Also, I had to turn down an invitation to dinner and drinks. I don't care much about the dinner, but I sure could use a drink.

Keith sent me this picture.

They must cater to a very special clientele. People with hairy chests who want a trim.

Ewww.

[Top Gear...]

I was watching an old challenge on Top Gear when I noticed something I didn't see the first time I watched it.

Basically, they were building a racing car and because they weren't allowed to get real sponsors, they made up fake sponsors to make their car look more like a racing car.

They stuck "Peniston Oils" on the left.

And "Larsen's Biscuits" on the right. And when they opened both doors, they get this:

I'm sure it was intentional, but it was funny all the same.

[The first day of the rest of my life...]

I'm waiting for a file to finish downloading. Thought I'd come here and write something to make the time past faster.

I'm a lot busier at work now. Truth is, I prefer it this way. Time pasts faster when you're busy. I think I'm performing better at the tasks they assign to me. Hopefully, they think so too. Every task is different, and it's great. I would die of boredom if I had to do the same thing every day.

I took a cab home today after work. I left late, so I thought I'd try taking a cab and see how much it'd cost me. Surprisingly, there was a bit of a jam for almost the entire journey home. Cost me $17 in all (including the %$#% 35% surcharge). Saved me about 60% of my normal travelling time. Worth it? I'm not so sure.

I've ran into an old friend on my way to work and back on two different days now. I'm 90% convinced it's him. The next time I see him on MSN, I'll bring it up, just to confirm. His workplace is near mine so it makes sense. This is the first time I've seen him for 6 years.

I think I've adapted to my new schedule. Which is great, because once I'm comfortable with my new "work life", there are other things I'd like to pursue. One thing at a time.

[Childhood memories...]

How much would you pay for a piece of your childhood memory?

I was at Sheng Shiong the other time when I saw a toy I used to play with when I was a kid. I was seriously considering buying it, but did not in the end because it costs too much (for such a simple toy).

One of the other things I've always wanted when I was a kid was the WWF's Championship belt which was held by Bret Hart. It was a simpler time then and there were only three titles in WWF. There are so many titles now that I can't even keep track of them. The belt I want looks like this:

I saw a replica of this belt recently on an episode of HIMYM. In the past, I wouldn't have known where to get it nor would I have the money to do so. Now with the Internet and eBay, it's not too hard to track down this belt. And I finally have the spending power to get one.

It's not a very practical purchase, that much is for sure. I wouldn't be able to really do anything with it. Maybe mount it on the wall or something. It costs around US$300 to US$400 on eBay, depending on whether you chose the simulated or real leather version, shipping not included.

I can't decide.

[Points to ponder...]

Stationary stores often sell colour paper by weight these days. You pick the ones you want and get them weighed and pay accordingly.

I saw the scale below at Popular today.

How the hell did they bend the thing?

[Bang bang!]

I've never been good at range. I failed my range in BMT and also when I was in my active unit. I remember being called to go for range 30 minutes after coming back from outfield, with camo cream still on my face and smelling like a pack of salted fish. I did pass, but it was a really trying experience. And I was so pissed that they made me go without letting me know beforehand.

Since then, the range requirements have changed. It's actually easier now, if you want my opinion. It's no longer an individual effort, but a section effort. That's what we did for this year's ICT.

This is the first time I went to range using an automatic weapon. All weapons used in the past for range were semi-automatics. I wasn't expecting anything, after all, using an automatic weapon makes it harder than if I was using a semi-automatic.

Hence, I was really surprised that I shot really well. Exceptionally well, in fact. I got full-score for the day-shoot, as did my section. We were the only section to pull that off. Unfortunately, one of my section-mate's LAD wasn't working properly in the night and he missed all his shots. Otherwise, we would surely have gotten full-score for the night shoot as well. Personally, I missed a grand total of one shot for both the day and night shoot combined.

If you haven't been for the new range, take my advice, get your weapon zeroed properly. The $200 is there for the taking. Easiest money from SAF ever.

I found out during ICT that someone I know has been working at a recruitment agency for over a year, doing IT recruitment.

I wonder how different my life would be right now if I knew that beforehand, before I took my current job.

So many what-ifs...
