[NUS students....]
...are really fucked-up.
Whenever they encounter anything that doesn't go their way, they bitch about it. When they're done bitching about it, they bitch about it somemore. And when they're done, they bring it up to a higher authority and bitch about it somemore.
First of all, there was the incident where one student complained to the Dean when the lecturers of one module decided to scale the final exams to replace the mid-terms of those who did better in their finals. The rationale was the encourage those who didn't do so well in the mid-terms. To me, this is a win-win situation. To the selfish bastard to complained, this means he would loose some ground. And the Dean actually took the side of the student, while not surprising, was quite a disappointment.
Now, in another module, the lecturer said that there would be a bonus question in our exam. The purpose of the question was supposed to be an incentive for the students who attended the lectures (very few students do for this module). She gave an example of the question, such as where is the location of the clock in the lecture room, etc. Due to this, some students (whom I assume did not attend lectures) were asking in the online forums where are the clocks located. One student replied saying that if such a question really came out for the bonus question, he/she/it would lodge a complain with the Dean, on grounds that such a question does not test any part of the mental capacity. Eh hello....It's a BONUS question. Which part of those 2 words do you not understand?
There seems to be a "complain culture" in NUS, which I find really disturbing. This just shows how spolit these brats are. If they don't like it here in NUS, they can jolly-well leave. And take their complain culture with them.
This reminds me of one of my colleagues when I was working. He also acted as if the whole world owes him something. He was from NUS, and also from my course.
PS: To be fair, I'm not talking about *ALL* the students. Just the percentage who engage in the behaviour described above.
