[And away we go...] ![]() This guy's moving some stuff on his scooter. He has more stuff around the foot-rest area, but it's the fan on his back that's messing me up. Most people wouldn't give this a second thought. Me, on the other hand, lots of crazy ass scenarios immediately started playing out in my head. For some reason, I pictured him being chased by cops down the expressway and just as the cops are gaining on him, he pushes a button, the fan starts up and he starts to pull away from the cops. I need help. ^^^ by Locksley @ 7:36 PM.

[Old habits die hard...] ![]() On my way home, these two kids in front of me were having a lively discussion. I don't know what it was about, but I did catch one sentence by the kid on the left. "Even if I don't talk forever, I also won't get gay."I'm really curious as to what they were talking about. ![]() Incidentally, the kid on the left sat on the seat without looking. There was a small piece of candy on it. I felt so guilty for not telling him. When he got off, a girl sat on the same seat. I felt guilty then too. When I passed by Ngee Ann Poly, memories of the 3-years I spent there came rushing back. The bus-stop which I waited at for my ride home has undergone a major face-lift, and the Octagon (where I received my degree scroll) is gone. There was this And finally, a mishap. My water bottle opened up in my bag. The cap's kinda cranky now, because I think I turned it too tightly in the past. Good thing I heard the "pop" and quickly held my bag in a position such that all the water did not spill out. Alas, I wasn't quick enough, and there was a pool of water in my bag. It seeped through and made my pants wet as well. Such a silly thing to happen. Good thing I was already on my way home. Otherwise, I'd just feel pissed for the remainder of the day. ^^^ by Locksley @ 7:39 PM.

[Singing in the shower...] And recently I found out my idea of how to use "its" and "it's" was wrong. I've been using them wrongly since day 1. That's a lot of grammar mistakes... ^^^ by Locksley @ 10:16 PM.

[In all shapes, sizes and colours...] ![]() This seat-hog syndrome affects people of all races. In fact, I'm pretty sure this guy's not local. To his credit, he did remove his bag later on when a guy wanted the seat. Grudgingly, of course. ^^^ by Locksley @ 12:05 PM.

[Who am I?] The ones that got it right:Anyway, I'm currently in the middle of watching the first season of Desperate Housewives on DVD. Mary Alice Young says some very profound stuff at the end of every episode, and I'm going to try to see if I can find them all. I don't know why I mentioned this. I must be tired... ^^^ by Locksley @ 12:38 AM.

[I spy with my little eye...] ![]() Now that's class. On a different subject, an acquaintance of mine was on the front page of the papers today. He and several others were convicted of a credit card scam. He was an exceptionally bright student at NUS. All it takes is just one moment of weakness for one to fall from grace... ^^^ by Locksley @ 8:49 PM.

[Embarrassing email...] I was in a class today whereby I had to present the answers to some of the questions we attempted in the mid-term a few weeks back. It's a combined effort between me and my friend, and my friend was late. When the time came for my group to present our answers, I realised I didn't have a copy of the PowerPoint slides with me. So I started searching in my school email account. Now, the computer I'm using to do this is the one used by the tutor for teaching, so whatever's on my screen was also projected for the class to see. I was looking in my Trash folder (I thought I had deleted it) when my friend walked in. I asked if he had the slides with him, and he did. While waiting for him to get his thumbdrive, I completely forgot about my email account, exposed for all to see. Guess what was in my Trash folder? Click to see a bigger image. ![]() Spam messages I've deleted without reading. Hence they're in bold. The headers drew some sniggers from the class. Hope the girls don't think I requested those emails or anything. ^^^ by Locksley @ 11:02 PM.

[The root of the problem...] I've mentioned this before, and I'm going to do it again. The buildings in the Arts faculty are confusing. Granted, I'm not an Arts student so I don't spend a lot of time there, which could explain why I can still get lost in the Arts faculty. Due to the rain, I had to find my way to this bus-stop by navigating through the Arts faculty. I mainly followed the crowd and looked at the signs that were hanging from the ceiling. It was nice to know that I wasn't the only one who got confused in Arts when I heard this guy asking his friend, "Dude, are you lost?" Truth is, I think we're all lost. My bus arrived just before I reached the bus-stop. Along the way, the bus driver got up twice to shout (rudely) for everyone to move towards the back of the bus. It was 4pm in the afternoon, and the bus was completely packed. The problem here was not how passengers won't move into the back. The real question we should be asking is how in the world was the bus so packed during off-peak hours? They should look into the frequency of the bus service instead of shouting at their passengers like some gangster. World-class transport system my ass.... ![]() Saw this lady on the bus. Probably going home from NUH. Look at her right hand. I've never seen anyone with such a heavily bandaged hand. All I could see was her thumb, which dwarfed in comparison to the bandages. Wonder what happened. Couldn't have been fun. ^^^ by Locksley @ 7:46 PM.

[Musical masterpiece...] In addition, Jonathan Coachman has released the following statement to WWE.com.I wonder if Coachman managed to say that with a straight face. If it's such a "musical masterpiece", why did WWE end up with the "distinct privilege" of promoting it? It's more likely that Mr. Britney Spears couldn't find anyone willing to be associated with him. What's the matter with white folks nowadays? So many of them are trying to be black. K-Fed? Seriously, whoever thought that up should be shot. Twice. Just to be sure. ^^^ by Locksley @ 1:43 PM.

[Fast & Furious Hokkien Drift] Credit to my sister for telling me about it. And proof that two heads are better than one...My sister came in and saw my MSN a while ago. She asked me if I understood what the display name of one of my contacts meant. I've had the contact on my list for more than a year, and I had no idea what she's trying to spell out using ASCII. My sister asked me what her name was, and she promptly deciphered it in 1 second. It was her name, upside-down. So there you have it. My sister figured out something in 1 second, which I couldn't for over a year. One more nice thing about Blogger Beta: When someone leaves a comment and you're notified via email, it now tells you on which entry was the comment left behind. In the past, you had to "hunt" for it. ^^^ by Locksley @ 10:39 PM.

[Because I'm nosy...] A mother and her daughter (in pre-school uniform) entered the lift with me. I reached over to press the button for my floor, and the mother pressed it for me. Daughter: 妈咪,你懂他住几楼啊? (Translated: Mummy, how did you know which floor he lives on?) Mother: 你不知道Mummy很kay-poh的meh? (Translated: Don't you know your mother's very nosy?) They then reached their floor, and walked out. Honestly, you can't make such things up. I have no idea whatsoever who she was. News travel fast on the housewives' information super-highway. On another note, I think I've figured out the whole how-to-incorporate-labels-without-using-the-new-layout-feature issue. Too much work. I'm just going to wait for them to launch the new Blogger for real before I incorporate it. ^^^ by Locksley @ 8:28 PM.

[Of door-cocks and need-scanners...] ![]() Took the picture above on the internal shuttle bus. Pull on it, and the door opens. What a name for it, huh? ![]() I went to the computer lab in the afternoon to ballot for my HYP. Notice the scanner on the left. And note the label on the computer. Remember, priority is for those "need scanner" folks. ![]() I left school at 3pm+, thereabouts. Reached the bus-stop at 3:10pm, and waited till 3:30pm for the bus. And when it arrived, it was packed. You'd think that having a bus packed to the brim at 3pm in the afternoon is a message to the operators, telling them something about the frequency of the service (not nearly enough), but no, I doubt the situation would improve anytime soon. ![]() Instead of waiting for the next 963, I took the next bus that came along and alighted at the stadium and took an alternative route home. Once again, there was a seat hog. This one's still in secondary school. ![]() I guess bad social habits are imbued from young. Yes, today's post is kinda snappy. I'm tired and have a ton of work to do, so I'm in no mood to think of the funnies. Also, I switched to Blogger Beta so that I could make use of labels, seeing how I talk about many different topics/things/events in my blog. As it turns out, I had to overhaul my entire template or something. I don't have time for that now, so I guess I won't be changing it anytime soon. Maybe in Nov/Dec, after my exams, I'll have a look see. Or maybe someone who's made the switch could clue me in on how the new layout works. *glances at LITEMaX* Mmmm...I just realised that comments in the past left behind by people who didn't have a Blogger account seems to have lost their names. They're all "anonymous" now. That blows. ^^^ by Locksley @ 7:23 PM.

[The truth about music downloading...] Which is why an article in the papers today caught my eye. I'm re-posting it here. Hopefully I won't get into any trouble (how ironic would that be?)...It's purely for an "academic" form of discussion. When it's not music to the earsThis is a very refreshing take (as far as local mainstream media was concerned). It's about time the mainstream media started report about the evils of the entertainment cartels. On other fronts, Mr I-can't-tell-the-difference-between-a-coffeeshop-and-a-lecture-theatre has returned. ![]() ^^^ by Locksley @ 9:15 PM.

[Red "X"s?] I logged into my ImageShack account just now. It seems that all the thumbnails for images I use on my blog has been changed to "hotlinking disabled for this domain...etc, etc". I tried refreshing a few times, I could see the images fine on my blog. Probably because they're cached. Does everyone else see the images fine, or have they all been replaced by red "X"s or the "hotlinking has been disabled" image? ^^^ by Locksley @ 3:25 PM.

[No dial tone...] Last Sunday, the phones in my house had no dial tone. It's a dead phone, basically. I asked my neighbours, and they were experiencing the same thing. However, if I were to call my home using my mobile phone, I wouldn't have known that there was anything wrong with my home phone because I got the connected tone and all. Of course, the home phone wasn't ringing. Since I'm using ADSL, this means my Internet connection was on the fritz as well. I called customer service using my mobile phone. After explaining the situation, the lady on the line asked me to unplug all my phones, and plug them in one by one to isolate the problem. At that very moment, I knew I was talking to a technically-inept person. I said whatever I needed to say in order to get off the line with her. Then I waited. I figured that eventually, they'd get enough calls to know that this isn't a "problem with the subscriber's phone". Luckily, service was resumed in about 3 hours. It happened again last night. I wasn't around, so my sister did the dance with the customer service officer. They finally sent someone down this morning. As it turned out, it was due to the lift upgrading works. The contractor did something bad to the phone lines by mistake. I received 2 calls from the technicians, one of whom was clearly the supervisor. They were apologetic, and the supervisor was very disappointed with the service I got from the customer service officers (asking me to check my house phones when clearly the problem wasn't on my end). It was nice to be able to talk to technically-inclined people when things break down. I mean, it was very obvious that the customer service officers on the phone were just reading off a script or something and didn't really understand the situation. Being able to place a call through to the line probably didn't help....But still. This telco I'm with has different branches for it's land line and it's ISP services. Their reputation on the local forums are pretty bad with regards to their tech support for their ISP branch. I guess the problem I had really was a problem with their land line branch, but overall, I'm satisfied with the service I received, mainly due to the technicians who clearly knew their stuff. ^^^ by Locksley @ 2:51 PM.

[Losing focus...] I'm going to stop for a moment to analyse what's been going on. On the whole, even with all the things on my mind and my semi-burnt-out-ness, I'm still coping and have been able to get work done. School-wise, good news and bad news. Good news, the time has come to ballot for my Honours Year Project. Okay, that's not the good news, not really. I was asked not to talk about it, so I won't. Basically, things are good on the HYP front. Given a choice, I'd rather take 3 modules than do a HYP because I think I'd learn more that way. I believe in breadth, and not too much depth. At least whatever I learn from my HYP (as things stand) may come in useful if I pursue what I hope to pursue. We'll see. Not gonna lie, I'm very stressed regarding my HYP, and I haven't even started it yet. I've heard nothing but horror stories, thus far. From being scolded week after week, to being asked to redo the same piece of work over and over. Someone I know was in a bad place due to this. What's it all for? Not worth it, if you ask me. The bad news. I was tore to pieces by the FNA mid-term today. I hate it when they teach you level-1 knowledge in a module, and expect you to answer level-2 questions. Oh well, shit happens. Fingers crossed that my score won't be below the average score. Some not-so-good news. I'm totally behind on my political science module. Yeah, I threw an SU at it, so there shouldn't be any problems. But I haven't read any of the readings since week 2. I'm so screwed, and I know it. My aquarium. Shit...I don't know what I'm doing wrong. BBA's not stopped at all, coming back with a vengeance. The shrimps I dropped it aren't doing too good. Most likely they'd all die again. If I can't get it right by December, I'm gonna tear it down and switch to a shrimp tank. Yep, just shrimps. No more plants. Maybe no gravel. Save me the headache. My personal life. To put it simply, I don't have one. There's a hole that needs filling. Can't remember if I used this in a previous entry, but no expectations = no disappointments. Easier said than done. Jill: Don't know if you're reading this...I tried leaving a comment last time, didn't work, need to register or something. Never did try again. And since you removed your tag-board, I haven't anywhere else to say this. Sorry about your loss. Folks tend to say all sorts of things that they think will help you get through this tough time. I think that's bullshit. No amount of words will make it better. So I'm not even going to try. Time will make it better. (I realised I just did what I said was bullshit) ^^^ by Locksley @ 10:12 PM.

[Some things never change...] ![]() On a crowded bus, with me and a girl standing in plain sight of her. In fact, the girl was standing right beside her. Was the seat-hog embarrassed? Hell no. Edit: By the way, I have something to say about my previous post. After I posted it, my sister posted her own version of it on her blog, and said to me, "This is how you should have done it!" Admittedly, she was right, so there you go. Bested by my sister. ^^^ by Locksley @ 7:59 PM.

[Hazy days...] ![]() The PSI index hit a high of 130 this morning. This has become an annual event. Forest fires, usually started deliberately, in Indonesia cause the whole region to be blanketed by smoke. If you ask me, seeing how it happens year after year, this is really a political problem more than anything. It also say loads about the Indonesian Government, allowing this happen every year, affecting and bringing inconvenience to all her neighbours. I haven't been too affected by the haze. I haven't been running for a while due to it, and when I wear contact lens outside, my eyes get irritated faster/easier. Other than that, I'm quite lucky. I've lost count of the "I'm feeling sick" messages on my MSN, many of them feeling the effects of the haze. ^^^ by Locksley @ 7:32 PM.

[Random thoughts...] This is my fourth semester in NUS. I've lost count of the number of new people I've met thus far. Most were friendly, some were not-so-friendly. Some I'd want to be life-long friends with, some I'd rather forget. All of them have very different and contrasting characters. Some were predictable, some changed drastically. At the end of the day, it's nice to know that there are people who go through the same thing you do (no matter how alone you think you may be). It's not-so-nice to know that good things happen to people who don't deserve it. Evil thoughts to have, huh? Life isn't fair. It won't be fair. I've changed some of my outlook on life. Just because you play by the rules, doesn't mean others will. I still care what others think though. I never take risks without considering the impact if it blows up in my face. I won't be another statistic. No fuckin' way. But still, never say never..... I tend to not keep my friends, we usually drift apart after a while, no matter how close we once were. I hope to change that. There are several people in my circles right now whom I'd like to keep in touch with after graduation. Why do I have to work with a difficult person every semester? The fact that my temper can go from zero to hundred in a short amount of time doesn't help. I usually control it well (I think). What if one day, I explode? Schoolwork-wise, I'm coping, more or less. This semester's not as tough as some of the semester-past, which I'm thankful for. I did screw up when I took the political science module though. While I understand the material, I won't excel at it. I've tossed an S/U at the module. One S/U left...Saving it for my final semester. Fuck. Will it happen, or will it not? Hey God, do you ever think about me? (this, coming from a guy who doesn't really believe in God shows he's finally gone mental) (just kidding) (not) ^^^ by Locksley @ 11:55 PM.

[Voyeurism, and so much more...] ![]() Seeing how I make fun of strangers and take their pictures without their permission, I wondered if I fell into that category. A quick check with Google says no, what I do is not voyeurism, since I derive no sexual gratification of any kind from my posts. Phew. On to the good stuff. ![]() Again, I've encountered people who play their MP3s out loud on the bus. In the past, it was ah bengs and ah lians playing with their ring-tones. Now we have kids playing entire songs from their mobile phones/MP3 players. Nobody shares your horrible, cartoon-theme-song taste in music, so kinda keep those hyper tunes to yourself. ![]() Oh, the guy on the right has nothing to do with it. Just an innocent bystander. ^^^ by Locksley @ 7:51 PM.
