[To buy, or not to buy...] Over time, I found my usage habits changing. I started using more and more of the "smart" features of the smartphone. One of the things I really liked was the ability to store information in the cloud. It's so convenient, and I can access the information from all my devices across different platforms. Recently, I switched to the HTC Butterfly S. I loaded it with the biggest memory card it could support (64GB) and turned it into a portable video player. It works very well in this aspect as it has front-facing speakers. However, it would be better if it had a bigger screen. But with a bigger screen, it may not be convenient for me to carry it in my pocket. I'm thinking of getting a small tablet (7") for web surfing and media consumption. I could bring it with me to work, and watch shows on it when I'm on the bus. The only issue is that I currently don't carry a bag with me to work, which means I would have to hold the tablet in my hands. I don't always get a seat on the bus, and I'm not sure how easy it would be to hold and watch something on a 7" tablet with one hand. The tablet I'm thinking of (Nexus 7" (2013)) costs over $400. If it's around or below $300, I wouldn't be too concerned. Would just get one. But at over $400, I don't want to get it and then realise it's too inconvenient to bring around and end up using it only at home. Decisions, decisions... ^^^ by Locksley @ 7:00 AM.

[Withholding information...] I was previously on SingNet's ADSL plan. The plan came with free mobile broadband and I get 30GB of data on it every month. It comes with a dongle and is meant for normal computers. We seldom use this, only once in a while when the ADSL's down or when I need to go out with my laptop and need to have Internet access. When I switched over to fibre recently, I assumed that the mobile broadband, being free together with the ADSL plan, would be cancelled upon the cessation of the ADSL plan. That didn't happen. It changed from a free perk to a chargeable service. This was not communicated to us. Furthermore, the data bundle dropped from 30GB to 10GB. And because the ADSL plan is gone, the mobile broadband was converted to a standalone plan. Without contract, but it cannot be terminated for three months. All this was not communicated to us. We were served by a new (FT) CSO, but it's no excuse. I am now stuck paying three months for a service I don't use. Somehow, I feel a bit cheated. ^^^ by Locksley @ 9:54 PM.
