[To buy, or not to buy...]
I switched from a Symbian phone to an Android phone about a year ago. Initially, I was using my Android phone for the same functions I was using on my previous phone - call, SMS/WhatsApp, music/FM, and taking photos.
Over time, I found my usage habits changing. I started using more and more of the "smart" features of the smartphone. One of the things I really liked was the ability to store information in the cloud. It's so convenient, and I can access the information from all my devices across different platforms.
Recently, I switched to the HTC Butterfly S. I loaded it with the biggest memory card it could support (64GB) and turned it into a portable video player. It works very well in this aspect as it has front-facing speakers. However, it would be better if it had a bigger screen. But with a bigger screen, it may not be convenient for me to carry it in my pocket.
I'm thinking of getting a small tablet (7") for web surfing and media consumption. I could bring it with me to work, and watch shows on it when I'm on the bus. The only issue is that I currently don't carry a bag with me to work, which means I would have to hold the tablet in my hands. I don't always get a seat on the bus, and I'm not sure how easy it would be to hold and watch something on a 7" tablet with one hand.
The tablet I'm thinking of (Nexus 7" (2013)) costs over $400. If it's around or below $300, I wouldn't be too concerned. Would just get one. But at over $400, I don't want to get it and then realise it's too inconvenient to bring around and end up using it only at home.
Decisions, decisions...
