[Crap...]
Assigned guard duty on Saturday. Haven't done guard duty for almost 6 months now, being excused cause I'm the Armskote man. And this Saturday's a long weekend too. :(
And as things stand, doing COS on Vesak day as well. How the hell am I going to clear my off like that?

[Death in the tank...]
Bought a new air curtain tubing last night for my fish tank. When I woke up this morning, half my guppies died! The current death toll stands at 9 guppies.
The tetras and corys are fine, although the corys are not eating.

[Guys' night out...]
Went to West Mall with the guys just now. They picked out a watch to give Cpt Eric. It was supposed to be a birthday present, but I think now it's more of a "thank you for being there" present, seeing how his birthday was in April.
I was asked to create a card to go with the present. Shouldn't be too hard...Lots of photos on my hard drive of our times together.

[When life throws you a curveball....]
Got news yesterday that I'm going to be sent for the AISL course. The course starts on Jun 15th, and ends on Oct 3rd. That's about 3 and a half months of trainee life. There are pros and cons of going for the course, as compared to staying behind. Oh well...
Had to clear my leave before I go. I've got 7 days and 1 long weekend. Took 3 days. Should be back in camp only on Wednesday night. :D

[Old people are weird...]
Went for an Armskote Management Course today at OETI. Ironic, considering how "old bird" I am already. The instructors there basically old foggies who wouldn't listen to your opinions. There's only one way, and it was their way. Fancy sitting there listening to them teach you about a weapon you've been using day in day out for 2 years, and telling you that you're doing it wrong.
COS duty tomorrow. Going back later tonight. Booked in last night too, for the tonner leaving for OETI was at 6:30am. Also, Szeying from IDA called yesterday, told me that I've been shortlisted for an interview by Oracle. The interview is gonna to be held tomorrow, on the day of my COS duty. I had to ask a friend to come take over for a few hours while I'm away. It wasn't easy, as most of the corporals are going outfield.
And to think my COS duty was actually on Friday.....Shouldn't have switched to Wednesday. :\

[Hello?]
Took my bike for a spin earlier. Did something silly. The hind leg of the bike wouldn't go up, and I kicked it with all my might. Turns out, my Dad locked it there to stablise it. In the end, the leg broke cause I kicked it too hard.
So I made my way to BP Plaza to get a new leg. Here's where the fun starts...
The bike shop there was just this silly little corner below the escalator. When I brought my bike there, there's this chinese guy on the phone, and a malay guy doing stock check. The chinese guy, who's the boss, saw me first and got the malay guy's attention. He said to the malay guy, "we don't do servicing for outside bikes." The malay guy promptly walk to me and repeated the same thing.
What the fuck?
I've not said one word, and that's how they do business? Fuck them, if I had a choice, I'd have pushed my bike out of there and went somewhere else to get the hind leg. Unfortunately, "somewhere else" would be all the way to CCK. And that's just too far.
I got the leg, and instead of accepting payment, the malay guy seemed hell bent on finding the hind leg in the catalog first and then marking another one as sold. What an ass! I waited and waited till I was ready to blow and I just told him if I could just pay first. And he can take his receipt and shove it.
I'm never ever patronizing that so-called "shop" ever again.

[A new ride...]
I've always wanted a bike, and I bought one yesterday at CCK with James. I helped him with his hard disk, and he helped me pick a bike. Compared to his $500 mountain bike, mine's just a lousy model. Heck, I'm not as into cycling as he is, so who cares? :)

[Life's like a box of chocolates...]
...you never know what you're gonna get.
Take last week. I didn't want to go for the Armour Family Day at Sentosa at first, but ended up having a great time while I was there. Our ORD function was held yesterday evening at Suntec City, and being without a date and not going to ORD till December, I didn't feel like attending at all. It felt dull, and a waste of my time.
But fate had other plans. While I was in the washroom, my name was called to go on stage to receive an award for Best Soldier. I came back in time to hear them announcing the winner from Support Coy. When they announced my name again, I was there to receive my prize.
The "trophy" was kinda cool I guess. A track pin, and a coin/medal thingy. The back of the coin has these words inscribed:
"The recipient has displayed outstanding performance in his course of duty. Hereby enrolled as a COIN-BEARER."
Kinda weird....But cool. :P
Anyway, the ironic thing about all this? They spelt my name wrong! Yeah....Just one character, but it's still wrong... :\ Also, the coin box has this inscription, "40 SAR 6th MONO INTAKE". I wasn't from the mono intake...Oh well.
So this has been a real neat surprise. But the best is yet to come...During the lucky draw, my number was drawn for the 4th prize. A DVD player/hifi which can play almost everything. :D
It'd have been a perfect day, until our ex-PC got drunk and blamed himself for our platoon-mate sniffing glue and ending up in DB. It's probably the alcohol talking, but it was weird to see our ex-PC sorta down-and-out like that.

[I take it all back...]
Ok, so I sounded pissed in my last post. To be honest, I was.
But today turned out to be pretty fun. We went down, had our attendance taken, and proceeded to have lunch/dinner/whatever at BK. Then we rented bicycles and all of us had a great time cycling. I last rode a bike 8 years ago, so I was kinda unsteady for a while. But once I got started, I didn't want to stop. :D
Man United drew 1-1 with Chelsea. This means 3rd place for Man U, and no automatic Champions League qualification. :(

[What a load of stinkin' steamin' monkey crap...]
Yeah, I said it. Monkey crap. Who cares?
Tomorrow's Armour Family Day. All of us are supposed to go down to Sentosa from 3pm to 10pm, or we'd be "charged".
Oooohhh...Scary....
First off, they want us to go off today at noon, but will not give us any free time off, so we're forced to take half day. Then, we're forced to go to Sentosa on a Saturday, our own time, for some shit event that nobody gives a fuck about.
Ready for the punchline?
The commanders who are about to ORD are planning not to go. While the men, who are also about to ORD (although it doesn't include me, but what the hell...) have to go, or risk being "charged". Of course, if the commanders want to break the rules, that's fine. If it's us, we get "charged".
Up yours.
