[Where do I stand?]

Three more days of Orientation before I go back to work.

I think the intent of the Orientation Programme has been well and truly met. We learned a lot about the organisation and where we stand in the big scheme of things. While there are some issues with the planning aspects of the Programme, on the whole, I think it was well thought-out and the objectives have definitely been met.

We all work within certain boundaries. Certain things fall within our purview, and certain things do not. After sometime, because of our limited view, we tend to think that whatever we are doing is the most important thing in the company. I got a sense of this when listening to some of the presenters as well. But after listening to what each department did, you realise that you are but one small "gear" in the machinery that is this company. A hundred and one things need to work correctly in order for the company to do well, and you are but one small part of it.

Perhaps the worrisome part about all this is that I have yet to come across a department that I am truly interested in. This could be a problem when the time comes for my next posting.
