[I can see clearly now, the rain is gone...]

My previous post ended with "more to come". Well, here it is.

I first learnt about Lasik when I was in secondary school. Or was it poly? I can't remember, but it was around that time. Having worn glasses since I was six, I couldn't wait to be able to go for it. Anyway, at that time, the technology they had could not completely correct my vision problems.

Times have changed. Technology has caught up, and I now have the financial means to go for the surgery. Last Saturday, I went for an evaluation test. I was suitable for Lasik, but had to pick the most expensive package. I wasn't surprised, with the research I did, I roughly guessed the treatment that I had to undergo due to my high degrees (especially for astigmatism). I was also told that my degrees put me in the top 1% of the population.

I had the procedure performed yesterday. It was fast. And I could see better immediately after surgery. I won't go into all the boring details, but here I am, without glasses or contact lens, typing this.

Oh, the freedom! I've been wearing glasses for almost 21 years, and contacts for about 11 years. This is quite an adjustment. And I was surprised to find that the white parts of my eyes are actually clearer now than before. Before surgery, whether or not I wore glasses, my eyes were always a little red. Pink, at best. Now most of the bloodshot eye vessels are gone.

My vision isn't perfect yet. I can see clearly the things around me, but objects at a distance are still blurry. It's supposed to get better over time, so I guess I have to be patient. I was told that due to my insanely high astigmatism, I would take twice as long as other people (without astigmatism) to regain my full vision.

Fingers crossed.

congrats dude!
Worst case scenario is just optic blast kx, no?

Positivity heals healing so does being happy.

So you need your lameness to counter your worrywartness.

Cheers for no glasses ;)
Which center did you perform your surgery?

I saw one which performed night lasik that was relatively "cheaper" than others.
I did mine at LSC. I did not pick according to price/place. I picked according to doctor.

After doing my research, my first choice was a doctor from SNEC, second choice was a doctor was LSC. But I preferred LSC because they had longer instalment payment terms (0%). Then as it turns out, the doctor from SNEC switched over to LSC...

So I just went to LSC and requested for the doctor I wanted. Just as well, because the machines they have at LSC are the best/most advanced in Singapore at the moment. My doctor told me that if I went to him when he was still at SNEC, he would not have performed the surgery because the machines there would not give me a good result.
Welcome to the world of no specs!
