[Bus lanes...]

Recently, I noticed bus lanes were introduced along Upper Bukit Timah Road. Just outside The Linear. What I found amusing was the fact that the bus lane ends shortly before or around MINDEF (I don't remember where exactly). What's the point of having bus lanes that stop in the middle of the road?

But what I found even more confounding was the concept of bus lanes in itself. What was the purpose for introducing bus lanes? Because during rush hours, traffic is heavy and buses get delayed. That's fine and good for the bus commuters, but does it really make sense to effectively "remove" one lane from the road during rush hour? Wouldn't that not just make the jam worse?

Something to think about.

Yesterday I took a bus behind Zhenghua Primary School. In my 21 years of living in Bukit Panjang, I have never ever seen a traffic jam along this road.

And yet, bus lanes were introduced along these roads. Look at these roads on a Saturday afternoon. Does it look like there's going to be a traffic jam anytime soon?

Times like these, I wonder if LTA knows what they are doing.
