[2 years ago, today...]

...I was enlisted. And now, 2 years later, an event happened that underlined how fucked up SAF's system is.

So this morning, I got a call from ARMAS. I was told that I had been activated. The first thing that came to mine was that there's got to be some mistake. My unit was not on standby. I called my PS, and he had no idea what was going on. As it turns out, all of the 2 and a half year soldiers in my company got that message.

I called my company, and the COS told me that we were activated because we were attached to some other division, and they were activated, so were we.

WHAT THE FUCK!?

Ok, I don't mind being attached. I don't even mind being activated. But the very least my unit could have done was to tell me that I've been attached, so that I could be prepared for something like this.

So I went back to camp, as annoyed and angry as ever. Hey, you'd be too if this bomb was dropped on you. At the time, we were told that we needed to board a tonner with our full battle order and go down to the unit we were attached to. And to think, I'm going to SOA to begin my trainee life tomorrow. This was so not what I needed at this point.

I got to camp, and waited for everyone to arrive. After a while, we were told to report to the ops room. S1 was there, and he apologised about not letting us know that we were attached. We got there earlier, so we got on the tonner and went down to our attached unit to report. By this time, we were told that it's just in smart 4, and we just need to sign a piece of paper and were free to go. Normally, if this was in our camp, it'd have been over within an hour for me since I live so close to camp.

Anyhow, we left for the camp we were attached to. Upon arrived, we were told that I was the only one who was supposed to report there. The rest of the guys were to report to yet another camp.

Great...I'm all alone, in a camp I'm not familiar with. So I queued up to sign the paper. When my turn came, they told me I was in the wrong place, and had to go to another building. That's just great, cause I had no idea where that damned building was.

It took a while, but I finally found my way there. Did I mention that everyone there today were all reservists? So I queued up again, wrong queue. Queued up again. You're supposed to be there. Ok, so wrong queue again. Queued up again. Found my name. YES!! Signed, and made my way out of there.

The only consolution I drew was that when I was in a cab on my way home, the others were still on a tonner, waiting to be taken to the correct camp. Ok, so I was first taken to the wrong place to report, but at least I was in the right camp.

Today was a fucked up day. Basically, our S1 put us out there and let us die. Thanks a bunch, sir.
